| | | user3657 | 01-13-2013 09:42 PM | Dropped off a bunch of packages the other day at the PO... and 2 out of 8 packages are not scanning. They were dropped off on Friday. These two packages were giftcards. I hope someone didnt steal them and and that for some reason they are still at the post office :noidea: |
| Sandy D | 01-13-2013 09:52 PM | Were both of the packages that did not scan gift cards?
Did you put them in a bubble pouch etc? |

| Sandy D | 01-14-2013 08:13 AM | Keep checking, it was so small it might have slipped through. |

| Mr. Invisible | 01-15-2013 09:05 AM | Even if delivered, I hope your buyers are not professional scammers!
Giftcards + No tracking info + ebay dispute policies...:doh: |
| Artann | 01-15-2013 09:09 AM | Tracking numbers are there. Post office just doesn't scan them. They are well know for it :smash: |
| smokescreen | 01-15-2013 10:13 AM | I dont think you will have that many problems, most buyers on ebay generally are honest. |
| slim jim | 01-15-2013 11:03 AM | you can use a scan form if you print your labels at home. they scan one barcode and all the packages will show as accepted |
| user3657 | 01-17-2013 02:16 AM | Whew, thanks guys! They were both delivered. I know everyone says things never get scanned, but I was never a believer till now. I dunno, all the packages ive sent...these are the first two that went without being scanned. They were scanned the day they were delivered. |

My Postman no longer gives me the look when picking up my shipments. My Stamps.com account pulls all stealth shipments into 1 scan form. |

Do you mean the postage to print? Cause on ebay you got 1 full page, and only the top part is the postage, and I got to take a screen shot, cut, paste, and size it for just the part I need then save it as a .jpg file then open up word doc. and put it in there, and then it prints nicely on these sheets I use.
Does Stamps just have the postage done ready to go or what? Could you give me some details? Thank you! |
| Sandy D | 02-05-2013 10:05 AM | If anyone ever ask me how come you have so many different names and addresses ( and I have been asked plenty of times ) I always tell them I sell items for people who dont know how to list on ebay.
No more questions. |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-05-2013 10:55 AM | I would just say I drop ship for so many people it's a full time job! I offer a service.
Also POST OFFICE ask you this Sandy because by law they have to know, if you are doing too many things they want to know and they can report you!
I read online if you ask for a cashiers check for a large amount they give it to IRS, and if you have too many packages and arn't a business they also might and could report you, they have a forum to give fill out to give to the gov if they think you are up too no good!
So stay safe! |

I have been doing this for 4 years, never a problem.
This dont happen anymore, only when I was starting out and using a small post office years ago. Now they have a wheeled cart with the name SANDY on it just for me!
:bounce:
I was told it is none of their business and only if they suspect a box might contain something they dont ship can they stick their nose in.
Problems back then were solved by telling what I posted.
Most clerks dont care, PO is cutting jobs in the USA like mad and they want as many packages as they can get in a day.
Nice to have a family member who works for the PO to get info also. |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-05-2013 11:13 AM | 4 years or not, maybe they are looking for someone in the area and they MIGHT think you are that person they are looking for! ;) They might say "okay could be fraud different names, taking peoples CC numbers, etc."
The worse place I had to deal with shipping was FRANCE! I had enough and was so fed up with the lady asking 1001 questions each day, I told her straight up, "Be happy you got a job cause of people like me, I bring so many packages too you and all you do is bs at me." This lady would always give me attitude for no reason, after a while I started giving it back to her. I would have my plastic mailers and ship my products in them and she looks at me and says "This won't make it to Australia you know?" and I tell her "look lady I got over 100 packages being shipped from the USA too all over the world by my friend but his on vacation so I have to take over now. It does get there, if it won't no problem." I swear she is like the worse person to deal with!
The guys at the post office in the states hate to deal with my packages to scan each one of them with the bar code!!! lol And he just tells them he works for a friend and does all my shipping!
Also be nice, funny, act like whatever you are doing = paycheck to paycheck and you only make like $.50 or $1 per package so they don't hate you for making more then them! ;)
SANDY! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I LOVE IT!
Yeah I would also tell people, or have my friend tell the PO that many are losing their jobs and that people like me are keeping them running! My nephew who did my shipping for a year told this to a women once! Cause he would show up with 20+ packages and require tracking per package! lol SHE HATED IT!!!! Even my friend at first as soon as they would see him they would be like taking a big breathe of air! lol Knowing all the work they got to do! lol
Well there you go! :) |
| random_user | 02-08-2013 01:50 AM | All the post offices near me have package drawers, I drop them in and go. I only talk to a counter clerk if it won't fit in the drawer. |
| vogeltron | 02-09-2013 03:30 AM | It is true if you purchase too many postal money orders $1000 or whatever the maximum is frequently from the same post office they might get nosy about it. Back in 2007 or 2008 I use to get postal money orders frequently to pay one of my wholesalers at the time because I could save myself the 3% fee he charged when I used my Credit Card. It was the same post office I had my PO Box at. Thankfully one of the clerks who I had known for years gave me the heads up. Although I wasn't engaged in any illegal activity is always better to not have someone knocking on your door asking questions about something they have no business in. I believe it has something to do with money laundering laws related post 9/11. |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-09-2013 03:35 AM | Yup just what I said, not cause of 9/11 but they'll use that and say it's cause of 9/11.
It's to make sure you are not buying illegal stuff, drugs, and money laundering really. And I would just tell them straight up. I save 3% it's $30 I would have to work all day for this kind of money! Makes them think you are poor and a loser if $30 is a lot of money for you! So they'll think "this idiot is clean". |
| Sandy D | 02-09-2013 11:50 AM | You need to see if they can provide a wheel cart if you have that many boxes. |

That was phased out of Canada way back...big issues with potential fraud |

Their failures are more than their successes

| Sandy D | 02-10-2013 12:28 AM | I have family members who deliver mail and believe me you wont want to know half the stuff that happens to your mail. |
| untitled | 02-11-2013 06:28 AM | just a random post office fact so im in line with my envelopes i wanted to make sure i got the international packages weight right,.
any way this guy tells me he sees some guy with a clicker following his postman arround house to house . he gets on his property and says who the heck are you and what are you doing.
he says I work for the post office and im counting his steps to check that he is walking the most efficient route .
so the the guys asks him oh ya well whose counting your steps soon in the US they wont be doing mail on saturdays,.
I still think their better than fedex or ups but i only ship first class envelopes |

No way dude. You are joking I hope. How many labels do you do like this a day? What size labels are you using? |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-12-2013 04:05 AM | Zoneout - No I am not joking! I have to take a screen shot! All the time been doing it like this for 5 months.
11 by 8.5 sheet.
Label size is 8.5 by 5.5
also Zoneout I don't ship myself my products are in the USA and I am in Europe. I started out again this month, but normally 1 to 12 per day. Still takes up a lot of time and tiring. Then I got to put that file into word doc so they can print it into a large file with all the orders on those sheets of paper labels. I wish I could get something to take off the time of doing this. I do first class only for all my shipping. |
| slim jim | 02-12-2013 10:22 AM | for someone SOOOO knowledgeable in the business world , why do you not have a label printer? :) |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-12-2013 11:30 AM | LOL I was ashamed!!!! To even say this in the forums to ask for help! :hail:
Anyways I know about the label printers, and the small ones that don't use up ink. The thing is. I am in EUROPE! And the guy is in the USA! I don't want to rely on him to do it on top of it.
lol.
He just downloads the file, puts the paper in, and prints it and voila it's done. But in the near future with 20 stealth accounts and so many orders. I'll have to find a solution. |
| slim jim | 02-12-2013 12:12 PM | I understand, just busting chops. I will try to think of something |
| GhostWhoWalks | 02-12-2013 12:18 PM | Thank you Slim Jim, but I still got long ways to go before I get there. Next month on the First I am starting my 1st stealth account. Once I get too like 3 or 4 hours worth of time frame or at least an hour I'll ask around. I still got lots of time before this. I might just hire my niece for like $10 or $20 per hour to do it for me. |

I am not worried about it yet but once I get a lot of orders each day and it starts taking hours I'll try.
I am also in Europe and my shipping guy is in the USA! I don't think those machines etc. I could do the work from here and print from there etc. I don't want the guy doing more work for me! I don't want them to have access to my passwords/accounts either. And doing it like that. If not I'll just pay someone as I always have, to just build me a program that takes a screen shot of whatever I'll select with the mouse and save it side ways on a file for me.
Will run me $100 to $200 for it but save me a lot of time. Once I am ready I'll ask in the forums for some type of a solution! :) Then I shall see! :) |
| boost | 02-20-2013 12:51 AM | Funny that this thread is around because I dropped off 4 packages (medium flat rate boxes) at a post office in town today. I usually go to MY post office where my PO BOX is at, but was running behind and just wanted them dropped off. So I put them in the big box drop inside the lobby. Cool right....well, that was at 10am and nothing has been updated. No acceptance scan, no "I'm on my way out of XXXXX facility" or anything. When I drop off at MY post office, everything is always updated within a couple of hours. It shows acceptance, en route to XXXX facility, departing XXXXX facility, etc. Now I'm paranoid not seeing any scans whatsoever. |
