Default eBay Bucks Retiring?

Just got an email saying that eBay Bucks in Canada is shutting down. Anyone else from other countries getting similar emails too?

Quote:
Dear xxx,

After reviewing the eBay Bucks Rewards Program, we have made the difficult decision to end the Program in Canada. We want to thank you for participating in the Program and being a valued member of our community.

You'll continue to earn eBay Bucks until March 31, and in early April you'll receive your final Certificate, which will expire after 30 days. As a token of our appreciation, we'll add a US$5 bonus to that last Certificate.

Again, thank you—we have appreciated your membership and hope you have found it rewarding. If you have any questions about the eBay Bucks closure in Canada, please feel free to visit our frequently asked questions page.

Sincerely,

eBay Bucks Team

They must be seeing that they can't make any money from it.

Example: Spend $50, you get $2.25 in ebay bucks to spend every few months. They can add up if you purchase a nice chunk of items.

yep 2% of purchase amounts get credited towards your bucks account on ebay and then about every 4 months you get a voucher from ebay for the value of $$ you have accumulated.

Its basically a rewards program similar to frequent flier miles to enhance buyer loyalty.

Maybe they decided to take the 2% from the buyers and use it to lower seller fees 2%

The program is still going strong in the USA and I don't think they are going to end it anytime soon because I recently got an email to signup on one of my accounts. If you buy anything on ebay there is no reason not to signup. They offer you at least 2% back (as a gift certificate/voucher called ebay bucks) on any purchase up to a certain amount of dollars for a 3 month period. Every now and then they will offer a promo like 10% back as ebay bucks on a given day. There is no downside to it.

I earn ebay bucks on the shipping material I buy from there. I usually use it on some nice new PC games every 3-4 months.
