problems with my zebra LP 2844 printer
 

I've been having problems with my zebra 2844 for a while now ever since this Java virus stuff started happening I even reinstalled windows on my computer reinstall the drivers everything I can possibly think of no matter what I do I can't get my printer to work before I go out and buy a new 1 does anybody know if this is a common problem with the printer since the Java issues have started? Are there any further alternative does anyone knows of. I'm back to using inkjet printer a lot of tape and it's a nightmare. I want my zebra back! Any help would be very appreciated thanks everybody.

unplug the power cord from your pc and let it sit for 3 minutes to reset the usb.
see if it works

Zebras are known to be tough to setup. I suggest you uninstall all drivers and software, restart the computer and start from scratch. Its ur best bet

Thanks everybody I've tried all the common things I've been on the phone with UPS, Seabrook I thought everything I can think of and problem mainly seems to be with Mozilla problem for starting to happen with Mozilla but I was still able to print my labels using Internet Explorer but then that stuff as well. That's what I uninstall the drivers reinstall the drivers all that type of thing I was just wondering if it was a common problem just think sounds like it's just me back to the drawing board or maybe my printer so good anymore I'm not sure. But no matter how many times I try to download problem it just never seems to work.

I'm not too familiar with zebra printers but it sounds like you have a software issue.... Did you install the java patch that Oracle released? They also reccomended Chrome as it sounds like firefox isn't giving you much help

Yes I did all the patches . Did new Java Download. I don't believe it ever did work on Chrome, I was never able to get zebra print on anything but Mozilla or Internet Explorer. Does anybody use the Dynamo?

If you have windows 8. It isn't compatiable with chrome.

So the issue is it just wont print right?Have you cleared out any errors in your printer properties or history log? Also Have you tried different drivers? try Seagate drivers, they work well.

I have been having the same issue with my Zebra LP 2844. I use Win 7 and had ZERO problems with using it on Firefox before the java virus problem began early in Jan 2013. I was attempting to print my first label inside PayPal when I got that screen that says something to the effect of: Your Java is vulnerable bla bla bla... click here to enable this plugin. I clicked and got the usual garbage screen asking me if the applet can use the printer, I click yes and it comes right back. I click yes again and it goes away and the label appears. I click print and nothing happens.

To make a very long story much shorter. I finally got it to work on Chrome AFTER completely uninstalling ALL java, rebooting my PC and re-installing all java. It began to work, but only in Chrome and only on my laser printer. Then Java comes out with a new update a few days later and after removing, and re-installing it all, it finally begins to work again in Firefox.

Then, Sun pops out a new update and it begins all over again. This has happened 3 times so far. To say its annoying is a vast understatement. I really don't have an hour to blow trying to get a label to print.

The final blow was my call to PayPal tonight to the tech support guy. I spoke to him, explained the issue I was having and he dumped it back on me saying it must be my issue with Java on my PC and It wasn't PayPal or the PitneyBowes software PayPal uses to print postage.

My initial question to him was "am I the only one this is happening to"? and secondly was there a workaround so I wouldn't have to go thru this. He never answered the first one, refused to even put a ticket in to find out if there was an issue with the Java they use and the printer I use. I have never been so ticked off at PayPal as I was with this guy. My point was simply - I'm caught in the middle and is there an alternative to using Java to print a label. If I get a survey I will crucify this guy in it.

The issue is clearly between Sun's Java and they way it is operating inside PayPal's labeling system. I don't have to be a techy to figure out that it takes TWO java updates, one to screw it up and the next one to fix it with those of us using this printer. By the way, the printer and PC have been working perfectly until the java issue popped up last month.

Thanks for listening, just venting I guess. As to the original poster, I am in the same boat as you and I doubt we are the only ones.

Guys/Girls, I am having the same issues. It all started last month, I could not print out anything from my Zebra printer. Yes I use the same model and print the same way like the OP does.

I either print with eBay or with paypal, but I mostly print with eBay. Every since java got update some weeks ago the issue seems to get a little better but it still does not print with some items I sell. Or it does not work with some accounts. It will say java has some issues and click here. I click and nothing happens. It might take a few more weeks for the issue to fully get resolved.

I am using Firefox and have not dumped any files or updated printer drivers, just the java update, or have not installed a new OS. The only thing I did was go back to printing on the laser printer and tape.

I'm sure it will get back to normal soon. Have faith, I think(?).

Mine started working great but I went & bought a brand new zebre GK 420d . Worked great till today, Did a Firefox update a day ago & now I cant print a label no matter what I do..... Back to paper printing....:confused:

I am STILL having the same problems with my 1 year old zebra GK 420d. It works great with stamps dot com But not with eBay or Pay pal no matter what I do. I would keep working with stamps but it costs & I have to UP load all tracking #s & there is just too much talk / chatter here about stamps dot com & linking,accounts & I'm afraid of stamps. But I'm also tired of eBay & PP only working with ink jet paper printers, I am very computer knowledgeable ( for your average consumer ) but I still have this same Problems Any suggestions on a better label printer that ALWAYS works?:croc:

for me, i simply kept inkjet printer selected in my ebay label preferences, and when the gray print screen with the options pops up right before i print, I just adjust paper size, scale and orientation. works now for me.

I had this problem too, i updated Java (the annoying update message finally got to me) and boom! my zebra 2844 stops working...After spending an hour trying to get it to work i finally just uninstalled the updated Java and reinstalled my previous version and that fixed it.
