Might have found something regarding selling limits...
 

Okay, when you hit your selling limits, you have the option to click a link to "Request higher selling limits", right? Then on the next page, it says that eBay would like to talk to you to and "get to know you better". On that page, there's usually a blue button where you can click, then you get a popup and then you click "Call Us" where you get a phone number and a PIN to call eBay, right?

I noticed that on some accounts it says "Call us about selling limits" and on other accounts it says "Call us about confirming your seller account". Both accounts are with limits. That would tell me that they have limits for different reasons.

The part of "selling limits" or "confirming your seller account" is written in green on the page where you get the phone number to call eBay.

What does it say on yours?

Mine always says call to discuss raising your limits or whatever. The first time I ever did it, it told me to confirm identity....

There's a risk if you want to call. If you are lucky, you will get raised by answering few questions, but if they suspect you, they will ask for your identity and may suspend your account.

Unfortunately not enough replies/data yet to detect a pattern :(

Well yeah, "Call us about confirming your seller account" is what you must do before you can sell on the site. "Call us about selling limits" is for raising selling limits, regardless of the reason for raising the limits.
