Talking Business account on eBay?

Hello , I was hoping someone can help

I have read the book a few times to esure that I can create a Business account on eBay . SO I have a ein number and it is legit . I want to open a eBay account with it with a suite # ( ie po box ) and want to know how to best create it so I can list to eBay.

Are there limitations on the number of items a business can post to eBay the reason I ask is because I did not see this in the book and am not sure if business accounts are subject to the same limitations a stealth account is ?

I saw a business like best buy pop up and list about 10,000 items in the first month . Are there different rules for businesses ? Also I saw that paypal requires a SSN , wich i do not want to give them and link to other accounts , so I read in the book to use a LLC . ,

llc is rather expensive , so I just have a basic business ein. & registered name. What is the best use of this ?
Thank you for the help in advance

There are limitations on every account to start. Usually 10/1000. As far as whether to get an ein or llc you should talk to an accountant . This forum can't help you with that info

There is no way you need a llc. Im in the process of getting my biz set. Already got ebay account set up and hit limit of 10 items.

You line ein on pp if you set up biz account on there. What you prob need sole priorty ein. Llc is more for huge companys.

State laws differ from state to state on the process of setting this up. In my state you just register ein as sole proprietator and your set. dont have to register at court house. Also bestbuy can list 10,000 items cuzz they are best buy.

Please do not give out tax advice. Everyone's situation is unique to them and that's why it is always suggested to see an accountant / CPA before making any of these decisons

My question is why can some businesses start with thousands of listings & No limitations while others are limited to 10 / 1000.

How can any business make any money with 10 listing / 1,000 cap ? this is insane . This is counter productive for eBay , it seems to me there is some loop hole that allows some to list thousands while others post 10 .

Does anyone have a eBay business account , what were their experiences with this ?

If you have a brick and mortar store you can POSSIBLY achieve this because you will be more trusted.

Companies who can list thousands to start usually are big known companies and have deals with ebay

Sometimes eBayer sellers do run multiple eBay seller accounts. They have one for product X, one for Product Z, etc. They can link their other accounts to a new established account and boost their seller limits. I would advise against this unless you are a big seller. These people sell so much they have their own Account Manager who they call up whenever they have questions. It use to be like 100k each year for 3 years. Now I believe it is like 150k for 3 consecutive years to get an account manager. They have outstanding reputation with eBay and obviously pay them Tens of thousands of dollars in eBay and Paypal Fees.

Default Business account on eBay?

It sucks but you can't be an overnight success on eBay anymore.

That's a ridiculous statement.

I'm a one man band and an LLC.

Do you realize if you get sued as an Individual you can lose everything?

An LLC, Corp, etc.. protects your personal assets.

Absolutely correct, been sued under my LLC before and the protection it provides it's priceless.

Not to mention Sole Proprietorship are useless for stealth purposes for obvious reasons.

LLC is not right for everyone. It depends on your business, projected sales, if you have employees, etc. Would be something worth talking to a lawyer and accountant about.

There are different tiers of ebay sellers. ebay has different ways of dealing with them. Sellers like BestBuy never started at a capped limit. There will be a confidential agreement between those companies. They have the capital ( the TRUST) to do what they do with ebay.

As a lower tier ebay business seller, it's considerably different. That does not mean an account needs to stay at 10/1000 cap. It means working hard with available resources and nuturing my account to sell with higher limits.

Different ball game for everyone.
