Activity: 0% Longevity: 65% | | How do you track sales and profits?
I was wondering if their is any good software to use to track sales and profits on ebay? I'm a small fish right now, so I was thinking a well designed Excel spreadsheet might be best? Does anyone have a good template?
I was thinking it would need sortable fields with:
Item, purchase location, purchase price, purchase date, category, sale date, sale price, shipping charged, ebay fee, paypal fees, shipping paid, net profit.
Am I missing anything here?

Most people who have at-least taken the two lower division college Accounting courses required by most schools nation wide should have enough of a foundation they can figure out how to do cash basis accounting themselves. If you haven't I would consider getting some simple guides, maybe watching youtube videos etc. It isn't that complicated. The more research you do the better off you are. Even with quick books or another program if you don't understand basic accounting and the tax laws you might be lost. Maybe even read up on IRS.gov about small business write offs keeping records etc.

I got a nice spreadsheet made for me on fiverr. It should do the trick for a while, and is actually pretty nice. It cost me 2 gigs ($10), but is far more complicated then anything my basic excel skills could have created.

Mine has an inventory tab which purchase, date, price, location etc. Then when I sell an item, I enter sale price, shipping, fees, etc. I then hit an "update" button which carries all the sold items to the 2nd tab "sales". All the headers on the first 2 tabs are also sortable. The 3rd tab is "stats" where I can see total net profit per month, year, item, etc. I can also track how I do per item or per catagory that I am selling in.
I am very satisfied for $10

Do you want to refer the person you used for other here? | My pleasure. His name is Lavina2000. Great to work with. I had many questions, edits, etc and he was very helpful and responded to all of my questions.
Here is a link to his "gig", I hope it works. Lavina2000 will do any job in microsoft excel with 15+ years of experience for $5, only on fiverr.com
I'm sure he still has my spreadsheet to use as a template. Let him know the ebay spreadsheet template that Kurt used.
