Default good or bad to beg

what is your opinion on begging in your auctions? for example, a story about how you are going to propose to your girlfriend or how your dog is sick and needs medication, please bid as high as possible.
does begging hurt the final price or help?

I dont think it has any affect, most people dont buy into it. However if its for an ebay verified charity, then it makes a difference since you know the money is going where they say it is.

I tried this, didn't work:

Quote:
Dear buyer,

I am selling this item because my wife wants a new handbag. Otherwise I would never part from it. Since I am forced to sell it, I would appreciate it if you placed a bid as high as possible so that I am not forced to sell even more of my beloved possessions to fund my wife's new handbag.

Many thanks.

Of course it didnt work. People arent going to bid so much extra money just so your wife can get a new purse lmao. Also, by doing this you devalue the thing you're selling. Basically you're acting as if its just so old your wife wants to toss it and get another. Just my opinion.

I really dont think that would work. The buyer side of me could care less about why the items being sold the whole point is trying to get a bargain.
