You do realize they send out hundreds of thousands of invoices, don't you?

Every tiny software change, goes through rigorous, in-depth testing by a series of teams, and then put thru several test environments. We don't see even the tiniest software change, until it's been ok'd, and signed off of, by many programmers and managers. I've written code for multi-million dollar corporations, and the level of scrutiny for anything that's gonna be presented to the public, is staggering, and understanding for most non-IT professionals.

And to think that there was still an error in the invoicing software, that the OP caught?.....now that's la la land.

OK so how about all the fixed item listing fees that are supposed to be refunded when a buyer doesn't pay and you have to relist your item? They are supposed to refund your original listing fee. I don't care how much code you've written, it has nothing to do with this. There is always shady code put in a system which gives someone the ability to manipulate it. Why are you here if you think ebay is so noble? Gimme a break

And btw, what the OP did is called accounting. If companies didn't audit their vendor's bills they wouldn't be in business too long

I wonder why these software companies issue UPDATES or NEW VERSIONS if they can simply build a software 100% bug free at there first attempt... lol

"Shady Code", as you put it, is certainly not a mistake. We programmers put in Shade Code, all the time....on purpose.

Interesting term you use "noble"......
If EB kicks me off for selling VeRo items, or for shill bidding...I think such actions speak more of MY nobility than EB's. I'm up here, because of my lack of nobility!

That's typical of companies that are writing very complex code, and that are under huge amounts of stress to meet a timeline due to competition.

EB has virtually no competition, little stress in rolling out new features, and when it comes to code that performs simple invoicing....they'd have to have quite the team of morons to mess that code up. Invoicing, according to very clear rules, is such simple code to write. With all their checks and balances....and since these invoices are directly tied to their bottom line....sorry, but you're not gonna find bugs there, at EB.

That type of accounting, is the same kind my dad does.
My dad is so 'old school', I remember seeing him punch in a bunch of numbers into a calculator, and then do the same thing with a pencil and paper, to check the calculator! That may be your kind of accounting, but that's just ignorance in my book (some would call it stupidity).

What I suspect the OP did was mistakenly add some features he didn't intend to...and then became a typical nightmare customer, and complain about it until EB reversed them. It's chump change to EB, to reverse a few dollars, and it keeps a customer happy. But it's not very "noble" of OP. (and yes I realize I'm making assumptions here)
