how long does buyers have to open case

i always leave money in my pp to cover any case or claim that might arise i will let them rest awhile but wondering how long i should leave money in there to cover a case or complaint on eb or pp is there a limit to opening a case ?

45 Days. However after April 9, from my understanding any claims opened will not put a hold on funds. I have a few cases open, and I don't think any of them have put any holds on my PayPal funds.

45 days from payment date

GreenBean 04-27-2013 11:00 AM

45 days is the stated time frame.

Bear in mind, a buyer might persuade this to be changed.

I am reading that many cases are being opened past the 45 days.

Could be a glitch, but I am sure find out if it changed or what soon.

Cases on pp are 45 days but chargebacks are at the discretion of the credit card company of the buyer....that can be up to about 6 months...

100HRWEEK 04-27-2013 07:22 PM

The worst is, being able to leave feedback for 2 months (60 Days). So they could enjoy the product, break it, and request refund or replacement way past the 14 day or even 30 day return policy. If you decline, they'll leave you a nice "RED" feedback. I think feedback should be at 45 days as well.

Some credit cards give you as much as 120 days to file a dispute, overall its not a big deal if your paypal goes into a negative balance they give you more than enough time to add funds to the account before limiting you, sometimes as much as 30 days before limiting the account.

Paypal has still allowed users to open cases past the 45 days.

As you say, charge backs for credit cards are meant to be up to 180 days.

Again, the plague of professional buyers can see this being bypassed.

Nothing is definite any longer.

I have had a couple of paypal cases (last year) that were opened at +55 days both were on an account that was heading into a suspension due to low dsr's

Remember when a few months ago I posted that paypal and ebay had been hiring consultants to help them fix their lousy image?

Well, this is just one of those hidden things I warned everyone about.

Ebay pretends to give in the sellers then pulls this crap out of their dirty little hats.

When you believe ebay is doing something for you, get ready, they will take it back on the other end somehow.

They might tell you 45 days but they are allowing it to go much longer.

I predicted this and the fb will also be changed without us knowing.

The recent seller protection is a hoax taught to them by consultant to repair the damage they have done to themselves.

GreenBean 04-28-2013 02:14 AM

It's a generic concept to say 45 days.

Allows sellers to feel they have some security.

When it comes to the implementation, the reality differs.

Best to try to operate in such a way to not get stung.
