| | | exxomscp | 08-10-2013 10:02 AM | Does eBay or Paypal own a warehouse? This topic is about eBay / Paypal's "secret" warehouse location. I want to know more about it..
I've heard some rumors about this, but I was never able to verify if they were true. I've only heard about the data center locations, which is painfully obvious.
I'm not talking warehouses on the buyers or sellers side here, I'm talking about an eBay / Paypal sub-company owned warehouse that was (or used to be) pretty hush-hush and used for disputes as sort of an escrow. Apparently some items would get stockpiled there when a dispute was filed after a sellers account was suspended, and in fact not get returned to the original seller.
Anyone heard of anything like that? |
| JamesNorth101 | 08-10-2013 10:27 AM | Never known eBay to ask for an item to sent to eBay and not returned to the seller. |
Secret Locations? If anyone here knew...they probably wouldn't tell anyone about it. Also, it's probably just that, a "rumor". |
| BigCJ | 08-10-2013 10:39 AM | They have things sent to an office, not a warehouse.
I had a rep request that I send some baseball cards to their location before I sold it to 'have them authenticated'
The address was a suite, not a warehouse after looking on google maps. Naturally, they have many locations, but I doubt they are warehouses unless its converted for office space.
Ebay does not sell items. They are basically an escrow service. |
| GreenBean | 08-10-2013 10:41 AM | I know.
But if I told you I would have to kill you.

They have a warehouse in Compton, CA | That's actually the Japanese brokerage firm.
They dish out instructions on how to package etc etc.
Not quite what the OP means.

Poor yanks, get a hard time of things over there sometimes. | Mid 2007, there was a shed-load of bags being pulled by ebay because of disputes over their authenticity.
Some sellers sent them into ebay. Most had proof the items were real and there was every expectation they would get them returned.....
Some ebay staff acquired free bags.

| john456 | 08-10-2013 08:23 PM | To see the warehouse, you have have to look in the mirror in a dark room and say 'Ebay' three times. |

:deadhorse: | Hah sneaky and thieving.
I remember in late 90s-early 00s when they were using Escrow to hold items and payment to promote security - don't remember if that involved eB directly however. |

. | Considering the total were over $20,000 it was outright theft.

20k - wow - I tried googling for some source article but could not find - ah well |
| Furious George | 08-10-2013 10:03 PM | You mean a buyer is asked to return an item to a warehouse instead of the sellers return address? I always get my returns.
Have you been missing returns?
Extremely doubtful, although I do remember details about the case concerning the handbags. From what I recall, most of those were in fact, not real. |

| exxomscp | 08-11-2013 08:49 AM | Most of you are posting for the lulz. It's all good though..
The reason I bring this up is because I've heard about it enough to arouse suspicion. There also have been occasion(s) where we haven't received our returns after an account has been suspended; the packages simply disappear. Together, eBay / Paypal are already into shady practices, so I'm curious. May be an office, but I've heard of a rented "warehouse" location with a security gate (or rather someone on this forum which was within' miles of it). From what I've heard, they just hold the items in that location for a long time; never heard of them moving anything.
This may have been a practice years ago and non-existant now (streamlining their own business over the years), but either way, I would still like to know the location.. I want to check into who owns it, or who may have owned it in the past and some other additional info.. |
You seem to be stretching for something that may not even exist, also if this "Warehouse" may not even exist! And if it did, do you think their gonna say "Come on In buddy"! |
| john456 | 08-11-2013 03:37 PM | This is a no joke topic. I read on the internet that sometimes ebay will send a covert team to snatch a seller out of his house and run experiment on him in their warehouse.
The next morning the seller wakes up back in his bed with fuzzy memory, butt hurting and a mc999.
That is why i use stealth. There is little chance that ebay black ops will be able to snatch me out of a PO box.
I do wear a disguise when i go to the post office, just in case... |

They have a warehouse in Compton, CA | I have sold tons of items to this user.
Even asked them once, are you ebay and why are you bidding on my items?
Just to see if I could get a response.
Got a response.
Yes, we buy items to re sell in other countries with our partners. |

. | Like I mentioned there was a site where 'goods' were sent to for assessment.
I have had no current info for at least 3 years.

Thus the reason they seem to always buy a certain color of rare 1950-60s glassware and always over pay. Japan has a huge market for this item in this color particularly. |
