Shipping to different address
 

i get a few people who purchase an item then message me saying can you please ship to this address instead. (ie - i just moved this is my new address). what do i do here? Thanks

It may not be covered under the paypal protections and such, depending on the product and you willingness to lose some sales to cases. I have done it before for buyers, but my items are low cost (to me) and high mark up, so I wouldnt mind losing some cases. If you dont want to take the risk, then you should refund and tell them to repurchase using the correct shipping address covered under paypal protections, or if they are being a pain just block them as a buyer on ebay.

In essence, what buyer is doing here is breaking their end of the agreement.

Shipping to any address NOT on their Paypal account means you now must forego part of your Seller Protection (see below)

If a case were opened, buyer may claim 'item not received' and state it was never shipped to the confirmed address.

I suggest writing back to buyer and have them adjust the shipping address in their transaction detail page OR offer them a full refund if they are unwilling to do this.

Make sure you take action to protect yourself.

If their address is incorrect, your protection may be nothing.

Dont harm your own account with the holidays coming up.

You do not need a confirmed address for ebay buyer protection.

now to do a full refund you have to go to paypal and issue a refund AND open a case through ebay to get your final value fee credited back? is this right?

How many times did I try to do this before I found the forum and learned how to buy for myself on a stealth account? Lots, and most except big box sellers and company stores happily complied. If it was me and the I did due diligence and the item is very inexpensive I might take a chance. Could be a future Aspkin member.

This happens a lot. Yes some may be legit but some try to pull this and then complain later.

What I do is tell them to go in and change the address to the new address so I can print the label with the current update and verified address as ebay wants me to ship to the address on file only.

If they are trying to scam me then they back off. If they are legit I tell them when I printed the label it came directly from the ebay address on file and if you moved between when you paid and the 1 day I ship in then that is no fault of mine. If the package has already been shipped I tell them to do a quick address change the the post office so the box will get re routed to your new address.
