Hey everyone,

I've been creating new accounts every 2 months and the accounts I created in the past I've always had 0 selling limits at the beginning. I had to call Ebay within 48 hours, answer a few questions about my ebay goals, and then they gave 5 or 10 items a month selling limit.

However, this week I tried to do the same thing (use new account to list 1 test item -> account was restricted until I called into verify some general selling goals) but instead of giving me the ability to sell (from 0 selling limit to say 5 or 10) they said I had to talk to the sellers vetting department. Apparently my stealth name did not exist in the public record database, as a result, the 0 selling limit was placed by the sellers vetting department.

I tried to reach this department but was on hold for over an hour each of the 6 times I called them.


Has this happened to anyone else? Should I create my stealth name in a more common name such as John Smith so I can prevent this? I've never had a 0 selling limit placed by the sellers vetting department - is this a new thing? I am getting concerned that future accounts I create will run into this situation. Please help!

How can a name not exist with 300 million people in this country? What kind of crazy names are you coming up with? I hope you're not putting numbers in the name like R2D2 or something.

Had the same thing today, our stealth name address and phone number did not exist in their data base .

I guess because of the holidays comming they are going to be strict the next 2 months.

Anyway I faxed over ID and need to wait and see what the vetting department says

I never had to call ebay and discuss my "selling goals". I also never had an account with zero items as my monthly selling limit. I have to wonder if you are doing something to attract this?

This is my first I created many accounts, even created my first no limit account this week, first one out of a year of making accounts but also my first 0,0 limit as well, but an easy fix, already cleared that up

@ebaychic2013, I have had 0/0 selling limits until I had my PP verified (happened about 2 months ago)...US eb/pp combo...

I gotta go with ace1977 OP. Do a search of most popular names in the US and go from there. I have and never had "0". I have only had trouble with accounts purchased from our in the wind friend a few weeks ago.

I've also had the same problem. Ebay has a name for it.

It's called "Automatic Limit Reduction"

A real hassle, and happens now on almost half the accounts I create.

When I call for the sellers vetting department I am being put on hold for over an hour.. not sure if this is normal? this is ridiculous..

I've been able to fix 1 out of 4 accounts. I've finally given up on the process.

The one rep who over-rode it was cool, I answered none of the above to the questions, and they said: "our system must be messed up, I'll manually set your selling limit to 10/1000".

Once I've discovered the failure rate, I've basically taken to practice of abandoning the accounts that get this review. It's much tougher than the old MC999 where they ask the basic questions "are the items in your possession? how do you plan on shipping etc. . ."

I just realized what I did that may of triggered this, it's the first one I ever received and the first MC999 I have received on a new account since I first started to make accounts.

I was able to get the limitation removed and yes also waited an hour on hold for trust and safety, it's not too hard to lift if u get creative

But I received another email today and went through the normal questions and they told me my ebay and Paypal were not linked so we took care of this during the call and everything is good to go, they received my documents.

So I almost guarantee that this is why I was flagged, because now that I'm in no rush for accounts I create slow and sell slow, just a book or shipping label , low risk item , I'll sell one and go back 1-2 months later to that group and sell my normal items to the limits and found by doing this I usually get an increase on 2 of the accounts out of 10 made and this has been consistent since June and every month following.

Has anyone else noticed when getting this type of MC999 that ur ebay and Paypal were not linked

I got one of these as well and I know for sure it was because I logged in with a previously used IP address. Had to change everything, but it was too late. The next day my auction was pulled and got an mc999 and was asked to answer some questions on a public database. My listed item was pulled, went from 10/100 to 0/0.

I open accounts daily, and this first appeared October 1st, so I don't think it's a coincidence that it started the first of October.

It's probably a new system they've been working on implementing and the start date was October 1st.

It has nothing to do with logging in under a bad ip address, although certain factors like that could trigger it.

Since 10/1/13, out of 27 new accounts, 13 of them got the MC999 within 1-4 days of opening the account, and not listing a single item.

I even went out and got a new ISP just incase my ip range was triggering it, as I hadn't seen many reports of the issue here. No luck, still got the MC999's with T-Mobile service.

I'm not a newbie, I've been making accounts for years, so this is something I noticed immediately.

EB and PP have decided to make it a little tougher for us to operate, but really, it's just a small bump in the road. Nothing to be overly concerned about. . .where there's a will, there's a way.

Ok , that's in line with my other thinking that it's the holiyday season and I'm sure ebay does not one a large amount of new sellers risking the chance of messing someone's Christmas up and hurting their reputation

Do you add a vanilla card right away to your new accounts right after you register? Or do you just let it sit there?

When I open the paypal account, I immediately add the card. When I first opened a paypal account years ago that's how I did it, so I keep the same frame of mind, even as a professional stealth user.

Is it important to verify the vanilla card right after you add the card? I don't want 1.95 lost when they're going to mc999 it. Actually, come to think of it, I would be losing close to 7 bucks. 4.95 for the vanilla card fee plus the 1.95 paypal charges.

I started adding a bank and visa vanilla , I find even though only one I'd necessarily that u look more legit verifying and confirming and linking accounts

These big-daddy sellers on here say it ain't sheesh. You guys have a lot of

cheese, man. these things cost money to activate.\

Seems the reality is unless you are not the lucky one, stealth will cost.

Almost every other post will say, "..always make new accts..have backups.."

'Hotspot devices and broadband data plans are NOT cheap, either.

Oh, and big daddy, he sell a lot, too lol

I usually spend the rest of the funds on mostly Gas after the charge, before they did it right away now after adding it u need to go to view limits and to lift limits u need to hit confirm card which brings u to a page where ur card is charged and on the overview page u need to click confirm card and type in the code, so on 5 accounts that I created when this started happening or was newer I made in July and just added the fund and spent the balance so I had to purchase all new cards

I don't get why they do that instead of just a way to inconvenience the seller

The 1.95$ in your pp balance = more $$ for pp (fees)

They probably are thinking heck, all these staelth accounts coming in and getting left in cold, abandon...

man, I wish I would of known they canceled them all the time I just bought stealth ebay thinking it was a great thing now hearing this it just seems like a hassle

&okay I started with my computer and Internet that's it, and 10 items, everything comes in time, I didn't even have a cell provider or bubble wrap it was using newspaper and just taping regular paper for postage cause I couldn't afford adhesive lables, u build up and with ebay it's a slow start but once 6-7 months comes if u have say 25 accounts boom ur in another level when they all get increases, now I have a room for storage of all shipping supplies and product nicely stocked went from ni phones to 6 cell providers 5 phones and a hotspot, and in the beginning I made every account free, I just added a bank or prepaid card which u get online free and instant and as the accounts grew I added the vanilla visa to lift withdraw limits, and for new numbers there so many apps that give you free numbers and minutes, and that's how I did it nice and slow

Exactly my experience today! Got 1 of 4 reinstated and she said it must be a mistake (after answering "none of the above"), reinstated and increased my limits. Other 3 account, not so lucky. Just going to abandon...

Something tells me the "creative" folks are about to get really busy. Anyone have any creative friends they would recommend? I created 6... and thus far the 1 i called in on, got sent to vetting department and after an hour... i was able to fenagle only sending an id.. because the stealth is only 19 years old. Well, maybe 1 doc might be worth it. i dunno. They can't keep this up indefinitely..Right ? On hold for #2 now. for a dog collar..... 2 mc999's out of the 2 i got.. all sent me to vetting department because i used information that could not be looked up. This is not so good news :/

Anyone know someone creative?

It is not a hassle at all.

All you need to do is call and answer the questions.

Rough at first but if you want to save the account it can be done.

You have to do what you have to do.

What do yo mean "all you need to do is answer questions"???? I was asked on 3 calls "public profile" questions. 3 each with 4 multiple choices.Unless you have an unbelievable amount of luck on your side you can't answer those correctly.

But I don't think you have to get all 4 right. 2 or 3 might be good enough especially if you tell them you are suffering from amnesia. Just be creative like a moscutter says.

Your rushing the selling on accounts, you can avoid getting the Mc999 all together, you need to create buyer accounts and wait a month turn it to a seller account after a month or even two of browsing and buying a few things , get feedback, and than start selling slow when you change to a seller account and than after the first month of being a seller account than you start pushing, and you look like a legit account and wont get hit with mc999, make a bunch of buyer accounts ,they require little information and let them age as a buyer account and than start to age it as a selling account and you will see the progress

I know patience is terrible , but if you need to go full steam ahead be prepared to lose many accounts and hopefully you dont get discouraged quickly

I was always promoting 4 weeks of buying and bidding activity - I have brought it down to 2 weeks but perhaps back to 4 weeks is the move to stick with

I think you may be on to something here... I think mine were not linked because when I purchased an item on that account I was asked to link at the end of transaction.. I'll look into it further.

I have been creating quite a few accounts since the 28th of October. Have not gotten the mc999 yet. The only time I got it was when I accidentally logged into one of the IP as my more established stealth. Then i got the database question. So far I am linking my PayPal since the 28th to my eBay. Have not gotten one since. I actually sold something last night on an account that was created on the 15th. This one I linked before I sold.

Stealth will cost, but so will losing your ebay account and not having a backup source! Ive only got one stealth at the moment but have just started my second one and eventually I want five, not only for backup purposes but its also good to spread sales over many accounts to try and keep them as private accounts and under the radar, id rather not have one account that will be forced into a business account or powerseller account, as an eBay staff member might take a closer look at you! Also with the star rating system eBay are dropping sellers like flies, so its always best to be ready just in case.

Dmshark, not true about the linking your PayPal. I just got one today after I sold, and it was linked. Granted I sold a medium risk item. I.e. generic case.
