| | | Bunting | 04-02-2014 02:05 AM | Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam So I'm selling a barely used ipad on a stealth account that has about 10 feedback.
and I sure the buyer who bought it is trying to scam.
0 feedback.. asks to ship to unconfirmed address etc etc and is messaging me sketchy.
best way to handle this situation? |
| ilcarletto | 04-02-2014 02:14 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam Not much experience on your question, but I can suggest you not to sell an IPad on a stealth with such a small history.
Very risky item, you can also have issues with Ebay for that. |
| Karakolio | 04-02-2014 02:50 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam ilcarletto is right, you made a risky move.
However, what you can do is, document everything including photos/videos of the item and the packaging, proof of postage, tracking number etc. I've read somewhere on the forum that someone was doing videos of the packaging process of every high value item they send. |
| unkown5454 | 04-02-2014 02:56 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam WORST thing to do when suspecting a sca/mmer is to SHIP THE ITEM!
Do not ever do this. Cancel and block them. |

Do not ever do this. Cancel and block them. | According to the new eBay policy, cancelling a transaction for a reason other than unpaid item, will be recorded as defect for the seller. Having defects on a young account is not a good idea.
In my opinion, it is better to collect as much evidence as possible of the shipment process and the product, so after the buyer opens a case 'Item not as described' or 'Not received' you can win the case and keep your account in good standing. |
| just_smile | 04-02-2014 03:29 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam If you genuinly believe its a scam, dont send.
I'd rather have a defect than lose a $300 item. |

So, is it worth $300 loss? A personal decision for OP to make. Opening cases and wasting time does not bring back the item. |

Opening cases and wasting time does not bring back the item. | The new policy has not been implemented yet, so it's not a big deal to cancel the transaction. I am just stating the pros and cons of sending the item and not, as you said, it's a personal decision for the OP to make.:ranger: |

best way to handle this situation? | What? Dont you like your barely used new stealth account very much?
Your buyers' preferences should have been set to prevent buyers from making any effort to harm you....
One such setting could be immediate paypal needed with shipping to confirmed address only.

Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam Best way to handle - if in doubt, don`t ship out. |
| BigCJ | 04-02-2014 06:59 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam The fact that they have an unconfirmed address means that you are 100% liable when the crap hits the fan
Cancel the transaction ASAP and BLOCK.
You are lucky that its a young stealth account.
Let this be a HUGE lesson learned NOT to sell something like that unless you can sell it in person for cash. |
| bigcasey123 | 04-02-2014 07:47 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam Google the address and see if a house or apt comes up.
Take a video of the item while packaging it up (this will ensure ebay that you sent out the ipad and not just the box).
Make sure to ship with tracking.
If you do all that then there's no way they could scam you. |
| ilcarletto | 04-02-2014 07:49 AM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam Quite a weak proof actually.
You stop te camera, unpack the thing, remove the iPad and ship the empty package.
Waste of time to do a video. |

Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam Anyone asking to ship to an unconfimed address with 0 feedback....Totally sketchy! Walk away from this deal. |

As stated above DO NOT SEND THE ITEM. |

| unkown5454 | 04-02-2014 12:21 PM | Re: Barely used stealth account - $300 ipad - scam I like the handful of people in here saying to ship it. You all must have just discovered the internet. |

Waste of time to do a video. | Is the weight not recorded on the shipping papers, also send special delivery.
I think everyone is being paranoid.
Send it, i doubt a problem. If so put it on the shipping company.
Annoys me, few weeks ago i sent a message on Amazon, I was looking for a dongle, I said i will only buy it if they ship first class, I said this because they stated fast delivery but the date was delivered in 10 days (to me this is not fast ship!)
I had a nasty reply saying I'm a con man and he wont sell to me even second class
Bare in mind this account is my partners and is always buying from Amazon since founded and has never left any negative feedback
Paranoid bloke really got under my skin and lost a sale, if i could have been bothered i would have complained being such a long member to Amazon you don't expect to be treated this way by a seller. I have never benn called a con man for asking to ship first class
It don't matter who you sell to, if a buyer wants to scam you they will regardless of account and they will always take buyers side
I have had proof of postage on small items saying delivered, they say they never got it, even after sending my delivery papers ebay have always sided with the buyer regardless of 'proof' they guarantee the product or there money back |
