Returns - Now I have to pay for return?

This is new to me but maybe not to others.

I have few enough returns where I deal with it on a base-base situation.

So I can obviously tell I am dealing with a kid, grr.. but this kid insists I sent a broken item (I know it will not be) as he said he has ordered 3 of these now (all happened to be broken :spy:)

So he initiated a return - hopefully he uses the address I gave him or else I will really be PO'ed.

But under the initiated return, ebay says they will give him the original price + shipping +++ IF HE USES THE RETURN LABEL THEY GIVE HIM, IT WILL JUST CHARGE MY PAYPAL?!

The problem is that my return address is a stealth one.. should I update that? Or?

Supply a return address on the case.

Havent had this happen - most buyers are happy to oblige with a return to a BUSINESS ADDRESS that processes RETURNS /hint

Lol, thanks.

I just believe the kid would see the free shipping and just click it and end up shipping it to the wrong place.

I guess it would be better just to pay for shipping and get the item too rather than paying for shipping and loosing the item too.

I'm guessing it's a pretty high value item that you want back then?

Personally I'd usually tell the buyer to not bother returning the item and just issue the refund. Saves the issue of it being returned to wrong addresses and all that crap.

After all, the item is damaged anyway.

If you read the op thread, he is suspicious about the items (3 items) being broken... probably not.
Another good reason for asking for return is that 90% of the time the buyer who is trying to get the item for free (refund + not shipping back) once you ask to return it, magically leave all as it is not bothering about the refund and without the trouble of shipping back.

Make sure to report him to eBay. Saying that he admitted himself he a history of pulling these shenanigans.

If I do not have much into some item, I tell them not to worry about it. This is worth about $70 (to me/anyone else needing it). It is a motherboard for a laptop just as an fyi.

Knowing that this is a motherboard to a laptop - the user said he has ordered several others, all of them happening to be DOA. In this market you have to be worried about the user sending back the broken one, claiming it was the one I sent. Which is probably the situation (maybe). I just want it back so I can test it myself. I mean, it obviously could have broke during original shipment, but it is rare I have this happen - scammers are more of a likelihood in my exp.

If the item is working, I will report obviously. If it is broken, and I suspect he swapped it on me, I will also report.
