Donating the 10% or whatever on ebay... Does that help your trust rating? Are they more willing to overlook something because of this!? I was thinking about giving it a shot on my next account. :D
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
No, it doesn't help your trust rating.
No, they will not be more willing to overlook something because of that.
Think about it... they are suspending people left and right on made up infractions. Do you really think they give a sh*t about whether or not somebody donates?
I just read this interesting post on ebay:

Hi,
this will be a short guide due to bad experience I had. I am trying to save others from making my mistakes as well.
You all saw that it is possible to donate automatically a percentage from your listing just by clicking the right radio button on your listing ....We all want to donate and help ! What we don't know and are not told on the spot is that eBay takes a minimum of 5$ per donation !!!!!!!
Which means if you donate 10% and your Item and your Item sells at 1$ you donate 5$ you end up loosing more than 4$ because of (Pay pal + eBay fees+ donation).
I'll show you what happened to me:
Item:
Little Green Phone Telephone From Israel. Miniature.
Sale price: US $3.24
Donation %: 10%
Donation: US $5.00
Just be careful you will not end up loosing too much money ,
I had 10 Items with donations of 10%-15% each starting with 0.99$ this might have caused me 50$ lose!!!! I took them all down!
...
Sadly this 'donation' is a con from ebay. Where sellers had thought they were doing a good thing for a nominated charity, it turns out that ebay takes a slice for being generous and the account comes under scrutiny. The correct way is to run an ebay account to satisfy them.

eBay claimed that the % you donate you pay no eBay fees on. I can't find that mentioned on www.ebaygivingworks.com
Regardless, www.ebaygivingworks.com/ns/about-donationamount.html says that not all of your donation goes to charity, but eBay's donation company takes about 20% of it for their own uses, so eBay is taking its fees out of your donations and then some!
