Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

I listed some items on new ebay accounts today and I stupidly forgot to link my verified papal account to the ebay accounts and I immediately got a MC999 on all of them.

While talking to ebay to get the restrictions lifted, I was told that listing an item for far below market value(as determined by what everything else similar to it is selling for on ebay) is one of the things that can contribute to a MC999 restriction.

So for anyone looking to sell things cheap and quick to build seller feedback, don't sell it too cheap.

Do you mean with a BIN?...certainly not a starting bid?

It was a fixed price listing. My item doesn't have a BIN so I assume he just did a keyword search.

Almost same thing,....yea, I 'm sure if a price is way lower than every other one, on a newish account, that could raise a flag.

I really dont believe it, that would take a zillion ma hours to market price and condition of each item

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

Search Apple iphone 5s....sort by price, that took less than 15 seconds....look at the cheapest..if it's $200 less than the next one up......that took another 15 seconds. Red Flag found.

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

Dude you just like to argue, it took you 15 seconds for one thing now multiply that by how many millions of items? Now how many that wont charge? How many in the wrong category? Have you tried to use the ebay pricing tools or apps out there? They are hard to use and most are just not accurate because of variables. Put a period and a comma on that!

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

I think after you trip up another security measure or a buyer or competitor reports you or whatever , once the account is looked at than I feel they take a look at the prices right away

I had an account before that the rep had mentioned my prices were low and this was an opening bid,for a 7 day auction , and the recommended opening bid that pops up was .99cents and I started mine at $22.95

So directly I don't think low prices can bring you down but , it can have your competitors calling in on you every minute until they restrict your selling

EBay has be known for a means to cash out on scams, whether it's people buying high end items with a stolen credit card and than dumping them off on eBay for half the price, or recently that family was caught they shoplifted couple million dollars in merchandise over 10 years and sold lot of it on eBay

I have noticed that this is something they are very aware of when asking for invoices, before I thought more along the lines of item authenticity but a couple times they stressed that they needed to see clearly that the items were paid for and needed that part to be clear

I can wait ten years to get limited. Competitors can get you no matter what unless you really know what your doing.

Dan...you need to lighten up...my point was, if you're looking, it's easy to do... you can have any angry opinion you want. lol.

Im good i dont need to lighten up at all, you waste peoples time with crap comments and telling new people things that are just not true. If your looking for a forum to argue and have fun use a different section or forum but not the defined sections for solving pp and ebay issues

Never believe what rep is telling you. They are clueless, trust me.

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

I think if you had tons of bin listings and the price was out of whack low and a competitor or just the ebay bullies found them, it could cause you restrictions or review. I do think this review would need to be initiated by something other than JUST price.

In regards to selling below market place it really hurts the industry.

Let's face it, there are people who are bottom feeders, but the people who aren't and just want the quality will always look for something that's reasonable, thus it's not always about the price.

And that's the kind of customer you want.

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

Chinese online sellers hurt the entire eCommerce industry. Makes me so upset how eBay or Amazon or any other marketplaces which aren't trying to regulate prices. In my opinion there should be a threshold set for each category on eBay. For example, no product could be sold for less than $9.99 (must offer free shipping). So starting price for BIN or Auction must be at least $9.99

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

I just don't get how it is cheaper to ship something from china to the States than for someone to ship one state over in the US

I realize they are mass shipping , but some prices just seem way to low to every turn any profit

stanislav 06-15-2014 02:42 AM

Re: Selling below market value can contribute to a MC999

Their shipping is subsidized by government I guess. Maybe they only pay monthly fee but are required to meet certain monthly volume. So even if they make 20 - 30 cents profit from each $1 but ship 500 parcels a day, that's still over 4k monthly profit and for anyone in China to make this much money per month is considered a lot.
