I know how we all like success stories,
I like most have several stealth accounts, I listed a "Empty limited edition bottle of 7up" as my 1st item (to be honest it was a normal plastic bottle of the stuff) BOOOOOOOOM Mc999
I, like a poo brain hadnt updated the phone number, after work straight to asda and got a vodaphone sim card that allowed incoming calls (only 25p) added my new number, Asked ebay for a call back.
Obviously i know this breaks the golden rule but had nothing to lose, 10 minutes later and i have my 10/650 back with no hassle.
no ID or anything requested either

The MC999 you get sometimes for listing your first item on EB UK at the moment is just is a bit of a formailty.
They can sometimes ask for ID or proof of address though.

If the item is mildly risky it will be ID and address proof OP, anything that isn't risky it will be a formality call where they tell you they check their database for your info, put you on hold, come back and tell you all your details check out. Clearly they didn't check your details as it's stealth - the number you call for MC999 is based in the Phillipines as an FYI

yeah thats correct, asked my name, address and
"what is the item your selling",
"where did you get the item",
"how do you expect to post item" &
"is item in your possesion"
(Didnt even ask for DOB)
put on hold while he updated my ebay & that was all.
The guy sounded Irish not from abroad but was a little nervous so wasnt inspecting his accent I just wanted off the phone asap ha ha
thanks again to EVERYONE for everything helpful i have read.

Im 110% sure when you get put through to eBay selling allowance / limitation team from the UK, the calls get routed to Ireland where their HQ is if I remember correctly.
Every time I need selling allowance increase, I would call them, sometimes feels like its such a small department because its always a guy that answers a phone and they all have the same accent, so I feel like im talking to the same person each time, so I too have to put on an accent in case they recognise me (calling about multiple stealth accounts), P.S. They havnt clocked on to it yet...so its working

MC999 asks you call 0345 329....when you ask where they are like I did the reply was the Phillipines.
You don't get put through to selling allowance team for MC999

I was surprised about the product you chose as a first listing. Is there like a general consensus on which items are very safe to start a new stealth account with? Obviously stay away from the list of Vero products. Honestly I'd be willing to go buy something just to sell it again to get the account credible.
New stuff seems like a big NO but used or for parts repair items not such a bad idea?

I wasn't sure and it was on the table next to me so thought I'd give it a go. Woke up this morning without selling anything to a 25/750 increase |

And there's just another example of how random and bizarre ebays limit raising system is!

I would say this is a personal account based on seeing that limit pattern increase, am I right?
It seems to go 10 -> 25 -> 80 / 2300 -> 240 / 6900 - this is for natural increase, just my experience.

I've been fairly lucky, the MC999 on 1st items for me have simply been to give me a "phone orientation" of sorts. Just to make sure I know how to package an item, where to drop it off, how to get the tracking #, etc. new seller basics.
I have no fear calling in, if the CSR was to get snoopy and start asking too many personal questions I will just hang up lol.
