So, been trading fine on multiple accounts for months, selling well.
However this morning, I logged in and processed todays sales....but instead of my computer seeing the dongle, it fired up the Wifi (on its own!) and I didnt notice until after replying to messages and processing the items.
So I have just logged in to my new account with the IP of my banned account.
Is this account soon to be done for? Anyone ever managed to do the same and are still up and running?
What a muppet I am. |
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

If you were on the correct windows user account, then doing this once should be fine, is it is not a definite link
If you do it more than once, that is a different story.

3 months ago? you may be lucky with that as your ISP i am sure would have changed IP since then with all the updates they do.
IP alone wont get you banned (unless its a VPN)

Ip addresses issued by the router only exist within the network. EBay, PayPal and the rest of the world only see the ip address of the router, which is assigned by the isp

You may now have made a link. | Yes, I was on my stealth account that clicked on to wifi, therefore using the same IP as my banned account that I buy things on to process some sales.
Fatal error I guess :( only time will tell...

You will be fine. We all have done this at least once. You start to run into problems when a banned ebay account was just using that ip address a few min ago.

So whenever I'm creating a new stealth, one of the first things I do is set IP Burger as my homepage. That way whenever I open my browser I'll instantly see if I am accidentally connected to my home network.

OP you are assuming your IP is static, very few home networks are, they are normally dynamic, test it and see, you may have a new IP upon start-up anyway...
you are talking about a banned IP from a while back? unless you are static there is less of an issue or no issue. If your IP rotates by just 1 digit then the odds are bit worse suppose....
If you have a very low rotation dynamic IP or a static one, I would consider changing your wifi internet provider, instead of dreading it happen again...it would also gain you some new IPs.
