You can try, but from what I've seen, it's a major headache depending on what you're selling. What I'm selling, needs to be approved by amazon. Every single one of my pictures I've ever taken, will need to be retaken. All white background. Specific types of angles, no cropping, no borders. Has to be 100% brand new. Can't sell anything that's used or " with defect" like I can on ebay. Amazon can supplement my sales, but it in NO way can replace them.

I am with ya james12v. I sell more on a good week on ebay than an entire year on Amazon. It all depends on what you are selling and acceptable margins.

And the sad part is this as I noticed with another member on this forum.

Is that the traffic is the same from years ago when it was good for me. And there are no sales hardly with the same amount of traffic from years ago.

Anyone who wants an updated chart or doesn't like mine please feel free to upload your own chart.

I wasn't knocking your chart. Just stating that based on context, it doesn't explain what happened this month out of the blue. My sales were steady and rising despite what the chart shows, so my products seemed immune to the whims of visitor counts. People needed my products and this was the only place to get them. Now, it's like people can no longer find my products.

Like I took down all my auctions for 1 week to take a break from ebay and due to shipping my items.

And like I still get 5 customers per day from all accounts asking me to buy my product.

I swear some of them don't see vacation status and are lame.

Just sick of ebay got newer products for amazon.

My last October had record sales as well...

I'd have to look at my 2012 to see how that went.

On a bright side, my sales picked up a little. Might be the weekend. Gonna take a lot to make up for the last 7 days tho.

I have slow sales too, what can we expect? People having trouble purchasing stuff (bad economy) and people dying everyday also less sales for stuff on ebay.

Well it might last a while, but not everything last forever. One thing is what you expect another thing is what life brings you. I'm not complaning only saying. Wish everybody the best.

I heard ebay is deciding to try to fight the falling revenue figures by expanding into new areas. Last I heard they were in advanced negotiations to buy Tim Hortons...

Stan why don't you enlighten us and explain to us all what it is youre doing on these forums - since ebay and amazon are both dead ends and theres no point in trying to sell on them. I mean youre a senior member here meaning youre supposed to be a tad more helpful than the rest but your defeatist attitude doesn't seem all that helpful.
What am I missing here?

aking 10-19-2014 01:25 AM

Anyone elses sales drop the last 2 days?

Oops, I lied. My sales just picked up all of a sudden. I'm on vacation and my accounts went crazy today. Hope it continues.

By the way, I have a full time job but ebay keeps me with $300+ a week in my pocket to play with which is all I need and my wife loves it!

I'll make 2 more accounts and turn that $300 to $400.

Little to say I have work to do when I get home. Can't wait till my Dymo arrives Monday!

For those if you who claim it's only a few individuals ...

Quote:

Up 7 percent? in 2007 and prior we were doing $30-$40k per month and up to as late as 2010-2011 we were spending $7-$10k per year on the site. We're now at $4-$6k per month sliding at what is an alarming rate in these past 6-7 months with maybe 10-12 sales over 3 accounts in this past week and we now spend essentially nothing on the site, purchasing only that which can't be found locally.

How many stories are out there just like ours and if one checks JD & Co. Diamond sellers, their sales are way down as well or at least all we're aware of and WHAT do they buy on JD & Co. that would in any way, shape or form make up for that which is no longer being purchased by small to mid-levels.

Cooked Books or JD & Co's multiple theft platforms is the only way I can see a stated increased GMV.

[quote]We used to do $12-15k per month sales. Now down to $3-4k (AND sliding) We used to spend $2-3k in supplies, shifting our purchases elsewhere. Something is not jiving with ebay's numbers....

My sales went from $200-$500 a day for last two years to $10 a day. I ended all my listings and reset my store and my sales returned to normal for two days and then back to $10 a day.

He is correct I have been monitoring more than a few diamond sellers and their sales aren't doing good at all. So to those who say eBay drivers traffic to large sellers it isn't true anymore. eBay is sinking deeper and deeper into the gutter ...

Wow, I am laughing so hard to this thread.

I dont mind ebay, its a record year in sales for me. Within 6-9 months, I can buy another 4-plex apartment building. My goal is to quit ebay and go into real estate investing 100%.

Yes, sales have dissapeared...and with the UK scammers who call the site FREEBAY, I have actually lost money this week. I seel unfortunately in an area where how shall we say, less than desriable folk also use. I even witnessed a guy on a facebook forum page for the area I sell declaring how he got my item for free. Yes, picture and everything and a description of what he did to get it.

There are severe problems with the UK eBay site with regards to search and listings, and also, thankfully, there seems to be a mini revolution starting

We can argue all day about sales increasing or decreasing, but it's all about what you're selling. I'm sure we all are selling a variety of different items.

I was actually thinking the same thing.

I think that non essential entertainment items won't start selling until November ,
And seasonal stuff starts to sell already.

That is because people cannot reach to your listings.. At least, not many people.

Canadian's theory doesn't explain what happened to me neither. I strongly believe that it is a visibility issue.

I think ebay tries to split sales between different sellers by turning listing visibility on/off.

i sell are softwares that requires montly subscription. People cannot just stop buying them. What i sell is just like food. You need them so it is not just bad economy...

It's really all the same types of products. Watch parts. Mostly links and clasps. The things that break the most often. The rest of the parts sell here and there.

My other ebay account where I sell watches, is actually doing a record month right now. Tho the limit is stuck at $5000 since I bought it from one of the sellers on here. So who knows what it would be like if I could list more then that.

If I list $5000 I sell $900-1500 in watches. If I list $20,000 , I sell $7,000 in parts. And that number has been growing the past 3 months. I MIGHT still hit record sales this month, so maybe I shouldn't be complaining. But that's with extra work, and putting up extra listings and having to deal with 8 days of $200's in sales.

Yeah to bad none of my accounts are Canadian! :canada:

And yeah even people in my category are at the top selling 10 to 15 per day then some days they are not even on the top no more and then they are back and selling a lot of them and don't own an ebay store.

They pull your listings. I noticed this also for myself because at times I can't find my items on ebay with VPS I still got a few and also because I count my watchers daily some days I get 0 and some days I get like 20 out of the blue and tons of sales then dead drop. Even with 30+ stealths running at the same time spreading sales it's a bit harder. Going into newer products and my stuff is hot selling. They are def doing something + google cutting them off as I posted a few pages ago people who still ignore it.

On top of it, I have read articles were people use to make $4k in sales per month now making $300 only per month. People who use to rank in $1 million are now doing less then 80% of what they use to.

In my recent experience on Above standard accounts in a mildly flooded market, a 3 day listing gets almost zero visibility the first day and very little the second day with sales on the third day.

I am reverting back to 100% auctions on these items.

Ever since that bafoon John was in charge and placed limits on ebay for selling, well there is way less items to sell. If you limit the seller abilities to list items to 10, what do you think going happen, less sales, less customers. Until ebay lifts the dumb limits on accounts and lets us out of the pen and back to listing unlimited amounts. Amazon going keep winning, sellers wll be going to amazon in droves. You can list till you can't see on amazon. That is why the are ahead of ebay and will always be. LIFT THE LIMITS and Ebay will get back on track! Wake up EBAY!

Seems like ebay are going the exact opposite way, with messages like:
"you can't state in your description that ebay would suspend your account
if the buyer won't leave you 5 stars feedback", before you list an item.
Someone there has a mentality of a 10 year old, playing with poo-poo
instead of concentrating on bringing more sellers in.

I wonder what happened to the ebay categorys? Maybe that has to do with slow sales? Seems like ebay removed the categorys now. None of my listings show under a category.

And when searching for an item it just spits out random sellers.

bring back categories!
