Selling Apparel on Amazon

I have an interesting dilemma. I have an existing long term(established 2009) apparel account for selling on ebay. On this account I have around 3000 listings. Under this I have 60 variations(10 colors x 6 sizes) for each of the 3000 listings with a quantity of 99 of each. Doing the math that equals about 17.8 million items for about $356 million dollars worth of inventory, if we're looking at it from the "Seller Limits" perspective. For the sake of brand recognition I would like to split this account up into 3 different accounts so buyers can more easily identify our brands. Problem is I can barely start one account without hitting a limit. I went back this week and looked at other seller accounts I had from the same era 2009 that I had not used for a long time and all of those seemed to be under either a 10/100 or a 100/5000 limit.

Ebay support and limit department is no help at all....I call in on the main account and they basically tell me I can't apply my limits to another new account or even an existing one..How does that make any sense? They're worried about the new account overwhelming us? PSH...

As always, any help is appreciated....

Any new account will ALWAYS have Limits, no matter what you do. If your looking for separate accounts, your going to need more than 3!

MM78. Thanks for the response. I understand that any new account will have limits but even my old accounts have limits...Accounts we've previously used for millions of products even as little as 2 years ago...

I'm just trying to figure out how to do this. If i launch a new account and list 1 shirt..Maybe in 4 months I'll be able to have 10 shirts up at the current limit increase...Its ridiculous. Yet I have another account(actually 5), with what seems like endless limits on them. Yet they won't use those as a reference for upping limits.

If you're doing that kind of volume I would assume you might have built up a mailing list or some sort of customer base.

Why not try and slowly take eBay out of the equation and build your own site.

Trying to talk to eBay on the phone is like trying to talk to a wall. I accidentally closed a case once for a $2000 item I purchased and never got and they would not budge on re-opening it.

Exactly what I was thinking. I just ventured over to Amazon side of things for the first time ever. Was interested to see what the question was. Another same old eBay deal for the past 5-6 years.

Sorry. If you do want to talk about Amazon limits. I successfully got them to raise the limit for selling in the apparel category on our account.

We're working on it but long story short we're on an extremely thin budget because of an unfortunate setback at a critical time with another sales channel.

A lot of the hosted e-commerce solutions can't handle our volume of products because of the nature of the variations. Every design/style/size/color = 1 sku. Meaning we have a lot of skus.

We're working on building our own solution but it takes time and a lot of money.. :(

Yes, I'm sure you know your own business better than I do. But consider starting small, maybe just a few SKUs. Just top selling ones and move on from there.

It appears that is what we're going to have to do. So much for bulking up before Christmas on these new accounts. :(

I see much better than I did before what you are saying. I tried the same thing with my main account. Got like 100+ selling feedback trying to have a secondary account to sell different products on than my main business. Month after month passed and I am still stuck at 10/$1000 even though my other account is like 10,000/$50,000. Crazy how they work.
