How do you handle eBay Returns??

Just curious as to how people handle returns on ebay? I have had a few instances where people have asked for returns, and I swear I think they have used my product for a day and then asked for a return for some bogus reason. Even when you offer a return policy, it seems this just encourages people to buy something, use it and return it.

My question is, do you transfer payments out of your paypal as soon as you sell something, or do you wait around for the item to deliver and the person to leave feedback (if they even do that). Sometimes I might make close to $1000 a day and I just hate having hundreds of dollars sitting in my paypal account waiting for customer approval, I like to get it out ASAP!!

So....how do YOU handle returns???:)

(sorry so long) :D

In your auction put you charge a restocking fee, They will think twice about returning it and getting 15-20% off.

I put it in my description that I charge restocking fee but every eBay member who wants to return an item will email me that they want a full refund or they'll leave negative feedback.

So I talked to an eBay agent via chat and I asked him about this.
He told me that every buyer must follow the seller's instruction.
He assured me that every unfair feedback will be removed by the feedback removal team which of course is a bunch of bull.....
I received many unfair negative feedback, even from buyers who never paid and eBay didn't remove anything.

Wow that sucks. Yea I have used the restocking fee thing before but it doesnt work all the time. I guess its a Catch 22.

Look at it this way. 10% of sale will be returned. So budget that. Dont get cocky, it will hurt you in the long run. Take it from someone who let their cocky ego get in the way.

Take the return gracefully, refund quickly, and ask for positive feedback. Not everyone is going to be shady and want a refund, but if you expect a certin number of returns, then your DSR's will be higher, you will sleep better at night, and you will still have an account. What would you rather do, lose some money here, or lose an account for months?

But if you have hundreds of accounts...

Yes, I am going to tell people that I allow returns but they will pay 10% restocking fee for ebay and paypal fees and they pay for shipping. Period.

I just refund and focus on the meaningful ones. No need to argue about it. Use the time for replying returner emails to list more items. They most likely will at least leave you a positive feedback than when you fight with them. Too many complaints is not good for stealth. I learnt this my self.

Kind of brought an old post out again megaobino...2008...but props on reading :thumb:

For me it depends on the amount involved - sub 50 I can probably process quickly but more than that, product must be received - this aint a soup kitchen
