Re: Almost no sales from January is normal? :(
There IS a period of time (maybe 10 days) after Christmas where sales are down considerably, but it also is HIGHLY DEPENDENT on what you are selling.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues. At the same time, you might want to broaden your product line. Too many people fall in love with their line of products and don't want to venture into other areas, to their own self-detriment.
I love books and movies. But I have had to modify my business over time. I got rid of the DVD's because with all the counterfeits floating around, selling mainstream titles was just no longer worth it. I still sell rare and out of print titles, but those are usually pretty safe since they don't attract counterfeiters. I also list many, many other products. Everything from HDMI cables, to medical products to industrial supplies and sometimes even industrial equipment. I am always looking for new niches with limited competition and reasonable profit margins. I stay away from certain things, like cell phones and electronics in general, but I am open to anything.
Following the crowd and trying to be the 8952nd seller of iPhones on eBay is a road to heartache. There is just too much competition and too little in the way of profits for it to be worthwhile.
