Re: dealing with postage bullies

I think you could cancel the transaction because of her ridiculous demands. This is extortion because she has something she can hold over you...feedback and DSRs. I know we say "do not call eBay" but I would call eBay. I have called on my stealth accounts before (not for a limit increase) due to buyers being asses.

The extortion does not have to be mentioned. Its presence only has to be felt and/or expresses. I had someone want me to refund them even though the item had been glued back together. They made the comment "I have not left feedback yet". I called eBay and that was enough. He said it is noted and if they leave neutral or negative feedback to call back and it will be removed.

If what you have said in the above postings is true, then I do not see how an eBay rep would not feel that this buyer is trying to extort you.

She hasnt.asked for a cancellation. Wish she had.
There is no way she would ask for a cancellation when.she has gotton me down to practically giving the stuff away.
Just looking forward to her paying tomorrow and block her

I can see that.as well to be honest.
If it comes to that then il just have to have my account looked at and hope they dont start asking for stuff. Hope it will be pretty straightforward on chat if it comes to that :-)

Re: dealing with postage bullies

I agree with what your saying but cancelling the sales will mean she will leave me bad feedback for certain...
Who knows, after this she might give me great.feedback and be happy she got everything practically for free. So i have to wait and see what happens but i will definately report if necessary.
She is a new member with only 5 feedback so im guessing this is not a ploy because im new coz ive been a member longer than her.
Feedback left for others has been great so im hoping she is just one of these people who like to get stuff at the lowest price possible.
Will be glad when this is over with. I know what she is doing is wrong and i should report now but im just hopibg she will be a happy customer and i will come out unscathed at the end of it :-)

I like to have the mindset of being a real business entity, even if I'm only "currently" on ebay.

That being said real businesses don't cave to silly requests like the one you faced. Not to say it helps because a unhappy customer means "negative feedback" BUT ebay can review messages sent and this buyer was clearly abusive with requests.

We as sellers don't have to cave into ANYTHING a buyer requests if it is contradictory to our listing policy. Thats our verison of terms and conditions, if they didn't like them they shouldn't have purchased the item to begin with.

I never cave to requests like you had. If a real business working off their own website wouldn't, I'm not either.

I know what youre saying and you are completely right....
I have so much to lose for the sake of a couple of quid though.
This account has never had holds from the start, had one limit increase and on top of that i pay for an address plus mobile internet.
I guess in my head i had to weigh up what was best.
Her last message was to say thankyou and she will pay tomorrow and is looking forward to receiving.
Dont kbow if thats a good thing or a bad thing but i hoping she will genuinely be happy to have gotton a bargain and will leave glowing.feedback.
I will never deal with her again after this, thats for sure.

Re: dealing with postage bullies

TBH I take a pretty strong stance against garbage like this, but I also have enough accounts to do so.

If it were me, I'd cancel all the bids, refund all the money, and tell her that her behavior makes her come across as a person you'd prefer not to do business with. Then contact eB and explain the situation and that you refuse to sell to this person. Blame them for not doing background checks on their buyers (solution?) before they're allowed to bid on your items. If they refuse to accept your reasons for not dealing with this person, then tell them you're going to send a bill for the phone call, depreciation on the phone you used to call them, and you demand a 20% TRS discount for the month and ask them how they feel.

/RANT

Sorry.

It's one of those days.

Ebay could care less when you "demand" those things.

Try saying that to a ebay rep and see what they say ;)

Ive made my bed and now il lay in it.
One good thing to come out of this is that i wont allow myself to be put in this position again.
It may end good or it may end bad. I dont know. But ive learnt something.
I think my immediate reaction to this was.... OH NO i could easily lose my account over this so just do as she requests and move on. Not the right attitude but it was my reaction to the thought of losing this account.
If this had just been one item then probably would have fought it out about a postage reduction and refused but this woman has the potential to screw me over 3 times so i kind of caved in.
Gonna do what bunneh said about site preferences. Did it on my other account.a few days ago with the scam bidder.
Gosh...i certainly get them lol

Re: dealing with postage bullies

I think if she spoke to an EB rep and expressed how it made her feel threatened (and she has the messages to prove it) then they would side with OP. Buyers cannot make demands when such things as shipping method is laid out for them in the listing. The buyer bidded on her auction which includes all the details of how and when it will be shipped out. Buyers cannot make unreasonable demands. I believe EB would see her listing and the buyers' messages and see why OP is afraid for her account.

On the downside "unreasonable demands" is a subjective term.

Wrong again.

Unless it was written in invisible ink or a cryptic message just for you.

No such request received.

It is always the people you try to help out that cause problems.
She is going to neg you either way.
Block Her
If she pays, send her the stuff and hope for the best.
If she keeps on making more demands.
Print out a postage label for 1 oz and alter the address to store near her, like the local McDonald, just making sure it has the same postal zipcode.
When it doesn't arrive to her house in a few days, email her the tracking number showing it did, but since she is a honest person you will refund her payment in full while you "look into the lost package". That usually shuts the scammers up.
If she asks for a replacement you say that was your last one or if you have more listed at the time, that because the first package is showing as deliver you can not until it is found, but you will continue to track down the lost package.
When she leaves a neg. Simply leave a reply stating "Sorry for your lost package. Full refund given."
