Default new ebay account

I opened a new stealth account on eBay. I've used my real name (which I know some consider a no-no) and I will shortly add a stealth address that exists in a nearby town.
I was quite surprised that I was not asked my age or Date Of Birth, has it always been like this? No DOB needed?
Also does Paypal ask for birth date details?
Thanks for any replies.

Cheers Rsot. I suspected PP did. Thanks for confirming.
I guess my next question is: If PP (or eBay) ever asks for documents what are they? Passport, a letter with an address on it? Bank statements? I'm wondering if they ever ask for documents with a DOB on them.

That's interesting.
I lost my non-stealth account about ten years ago. I want a stealth account using my real name (but everything else new and stealth) but I don't know if my lost eBay or Paypal accounts have a DOB attached to them.
I'll just have to see what happens as the stealth account matures and is used!

So you have opened new stealth with no change at all in your name, it is just as it was on your original real first ever eBay account? If so the biggest surprise is not that they did not ask you for your date of birth, but that they let you open the account in your real name! It isn't just some people who consider it a non-no to do that, it is everyone who has every successfully run a stealth account and managed to maintain it, really sooner rather than later this account will go down, they will realise.

You need to have some standby accounts waiting in the wings that you are building up gradually with low risk sales, so that this one does go down you will not be too badly affected, better to be safe than sorry !!

I agree its not great to use your real name.
However, as long as there are no more links to the real you, it may work.

I presume your name is ordinary and not unusual?

Whats done is done so just go with it, but as Rosie said create more accounts but dont use real name again.

Using an address in the next town is still pretty close to home in my opinion. Can you not make your address further afield than where you are.
Ie...if you live in newcastle....have address in london :-)

Having reread your post, im now persuming you have only gone as far as opening the ebay and you havent done paypal yet.
If thats the case, perhaps scrap that ebay account and restart using a new name.
Just an opinion, but if its too late, as said, no more linkages to the real you should be made :-)

I currently have three eBay accounts.
Two buying accounts - one of them as mentioned in the original post which I will slowly change to a selling account.
I have a stealth account that I am using at present - we've discussed it in another thread RosieTosie.

Aspkin does say in his stealth guide that you will not be linked by name alone.
This is why I am giving it a go - easier to verify in the future. Unless they ask for D.O.B. documents - which is why I opened the thread!.

The forums are great to keep us updated on changes.
Always advised to use completely new details, but you are right that you perhaps cannot get linked on name alone....unless your name is mega unusual.
Keep everything else completely different though.
Good luck. Sounds to me like youre nearly sorted and ready to start :-)

I have a selling account using a relatives details. This was a relative i thought would never EVER have an eBay account - and they now do. This has made me very nervous so it's time to open two stealth selling accounts - one in my real name and one all ⊗⊗⊗⊗.
If the real name account goes down then at least I'll know it's not an option rather than always wondering if it could work..and i can then pass on the info to you guys!

Use different name/town/city/d.o.b on every stealth you make, I have mine spread all over the country.

Really that is what i like but why? Say a city has 100k people, how many have ebay say 10,000 have an ebay now how many have the same dob 30 or so and the same street say 100 sets of 2 with same street and same name im sure roughly what a big guess 500 name matches. I think unique makes it simple but not really necessary if so why? Please do tell me their is a guy at ebay looking at your listings and now going through all the suspended accts in the past 3 months looking at photos and descriptions come on. Look up an iphone 6s and tell me how many identical listings with identical photos there are

Things have been changing rapidly since 29th November when the changes with UK ID policy with paypal became reality, you will be found out for using the same name, read the gazillion other posts since that date from people who have lost accounts for less mistakes than this, you just cannot take risks these days
