Buyer returned item with missing parts.

Hi guys,

Sold an item on my stealth account, and the buyer request a return, however he sent the product without some of the contents that are meant to be included. I rang him up and he said he will try to find the missing parts however i think he just wanted the order for the part and then returned the rest. I must issue the refund by tomorrow according to the resolution center. Should i ask eBay to get involved instead of issuing a refund, please advise /similar experiences.

Edit: Apologies, please move this to UK Ebay / PP forum

You have to call eBay/Paypal about it. If you don't, you will lose the case.

Calling eBay usually causes problems. I'm speaking on experience and from a lot of stories on this forum.

You have chat in the UK still? That should also work. Pretty much if you dont communicate with ebay you will loose the case.

This is something you'll have to contemplate yourself, based on your situation. If you feel your account is strong enough, give it a call and get your money back. Otherwise, you'll most likely have to throw that money away.

I agree you must communicate when it comes to these situations.

It makes 100% sense for eBay to side with the buyer if the seller isn't willing do his/her job and provide a valid reason why you should win the case.

Its our responsibility as sellers to communicate and take the initiative. Its ok you don't feel comfortable calling eBay but you must accept the consequences.

The only way to do something in this situation is to call in and explain them the situation. But as the EB is buyer-oriented, there is a very little possibility of winning it.

What would happen if the seller doesn't accept the returned item?
Would they still refund the buyer?

If you don't take steps, buyer will win on default - usually

If that's what you think, then lose the case, and your money. That's the only other choice you have.

You can't let that buyer take advantage of you.

1. Get him to admit via ebay messaging that he has not included all the parts and have him be specific about what is missing if possible.

2. Contact Take pics of the returned item as proof.

3. Contact ebay ebay about the issue, send them the pic and tell them to review the ebay messages so that they can see he admitted it.

4. Last but not least, as that they remove his ability to leave negative feedback, they have don this for me in the past.

When you speak to them, be very and and act like the are they only person in the world that can help you avoid being taken advantage of. Most people are good and will want to help you.

I hope this helps!

I just learned too if you file a police report via eBay you SHOULD get your money back.

As long as you do this its under stealth name which is OKAY because nothing will ever happen with the police report anyways. I've yet to do this myself but have been told this by trust worthy members.
