Identity Confirmation - Cookies - Unauthorized...
I got this when trying to log into my ebay account. Had to call in and verify a few things and now I can't sell on it, only buy. Just wanted to share for you all.
Identity Confirmation is an innovation from eBay designed to make it safer for people to trade online. In short, this initiative matches members to their computers in order to protect against other people impersonating eBay members and leading buyers and sellers into false transactions. eBay is now noting which computers members use to access their accounts in order to protect them from unauthorized access. When an unrecognized computer is used for some specific activities, we are prompting members to complete the Identity Confirmation process.
When you begin the process of selling an item, we will verify your user ID against the flash cookie. This helps ensure that the member selling from your account is using a trusted computer. We do this to protect your account and the online marketplace.
To pass verification and have the computer identified as a trusted machine, you can contact Customer Support or complete the phone or email flow that you were presented with in the notice you received.
To resolve this issue on your account:
1.Go back to the page where you received the message. You'll usually get this message from the Sell Your Item form, sign in or the Revise Your Item form.
2.Select "Phone (recommended-faster)."
3.Select the phone number you'd like to take the automated call from. Note: If you'd like to provide a different phone number to take the automated call from, you'll be required to select a secret question and provide an answer.
4.Click "Call me right now"
I hope this has been helpful, but please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
