Activity: 0% Longevity: 93% | | And eBay claims it is concerned about stopping counterfeits
I actually bought from this thug and was the only one to open a case and leave negative feedback as far as I know:
(warning: eBay link) http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...edbackAsSeller
Dude's probably sold over a hundred of these, people seem to have no idea they are getting a phake. Reported him and eBay did nothing. So when you open a case for item being counterfeit, I guess in eBay's eyes that's just another random reason you can use to get a refund.

Eh, probably no difference in that microsoft office vs the actual genuine one purchased at a store. Either way he will be back selling it on another account sooner or later.
As far as phake software goes my windows is phake, my antivirus, my Photoshop, my Microsoft office, excel, pretty much everything
Instead of buying these should should just download it for free

How did he sell you the item digitally or did he ship it with via cd or usb?

I have seen the counterfeit Microsoft products. They look nearly identical to the ones in retail stores, even down to the nice plastic boxes with the one rounded corner and the authenticity holograms.
But here is what happens. You install it and everything seems fine. It updates no problem. You can register it on Microsoft's website, no problem. Everything is fine for about a month or so and then your background turns black and Windows informs you that the software is "Not Genuine" and that you may be a victim of software counterfeiting.
Then it will nag you to death to replace your counterfeit copy with a real copy. It will NOT stop working, but it looks terrible and the constant pop-ups will drive you nuts.
But this guy gets lots of positive feedback because it WORKS GREAT when you first get it, it is only later that you find out is is a copy and not the original product. I notice that he has not been selling for very long. He will probably be able to sell a few hundred before he gets shut down. Because he will have lots and lots of satisfied customers for awhile who leave positive feedback. A few weeks later, when eBay gets a ton of complains about the seller, his account will be closed. But until then, he will continue to sell to unsuspecting buyers. This guy probably has ten other accounts. Or a hundred. Who knows?

I had the same issue. Bought a phake activation key. Called ebay, and they told me:
1) item is intangible, so no money-back
2) cant open returns on intangible items, as cases will be automatically closed in case of disputes
3) I asked: - "Wtf, people can sell phakes and get away with it! This item is a phake, you understand that, but still won't do anything!" Rep replied:
- "Yes, it seems so, as there is no moneyback on digital items, so we are not responsible for any damages". But, anyway, I sorted it out with the PayPal. But very few people will escalate that far.
5) I left a neg for this guy. And... it got removed! Reason: I sold item with the same keywords in the description... ONE YEAR AGO, so they assumed I am a competitor!
EB is really very weird regarding fighting phakes.

We have one in our main computer and another in the laptop, work great like you say and the main computer has been running that one for years no problem, don't even notice the messages that it's not genuine anymore. Don't think we even know anyone running computers on the genuine thing, faced with results like that Microsoft must have all but given up on notifying people anymore.

Uh, no. I have 10 years experience selling software and have seen every scam out there. These are counterfeits; that much is clear. What they usually do is take the volume-licensed version, which doesn't typically have activation, make silkscreened or sticker-covered discs with that image, and distribute them with stolen volume licensed keys, in the hopes that by the time the counterfeit is discovered, it's way too late. People may never discover in this case. It's just Office for Mac. Microsoft doesn't rigorously check people's word processor the way they do with the Windows OS. This dude could conceivably be at it a long time. How did he sell you the item digitally or did he ship it with via cd or usb?
In the box, professionally produced and shrinkwrapped product that looks very legit except for a few minor details that experienced people will notice. The average person will never know they bought a phake.
My problem with it is that people think they are buying the real deal. If they wanted a hacked copy, they could get it for free or for ten bucks off some site. So it is wrong.

Microsoft reported selling like 10+ million copies of Win10 in the first month, each 100 eur at least. So they are doing great. I assume they spend more on fighting piracy, than the damages the piracy actually does to them. As guys, who buy 5 usd worh China keys, still wont buy a genuine copy for 100 eur, and they are not their potential customers anyway.

He's been getting away with it for a while, the feedback follow-up below was left after the buyer had originally left a positive, & this was almost 2 years ago..

Getting issues after 2 years. Omg, using fully activated non-hacked Windows for 2 years, 10 - 15 quid / year, and still not happy. Go and pay 150 quid to Mr. Gates, and be happy, what's the problem!"
This is my opinion on guys who buy ultra-cheap things, and then crying like they were robbed for one million pounds.

For the big guys (like Microsoft) to go after him, it will take his selling THOUSANDS of units, minimum. There is one dude who's been selling counterfeits on CL for the last 5 years or so. Not only has Microsoft not done anything about him, they've let him join their certified solutions partner network.

Let's go over this for the uneducated:
He is ripping people off who think they are getting legitimate software.
He is attracting the attention (eventually) of big fish like Microsoft who will make a big case of it when they finally fry his a$$.
This will provide a lot of harsh commentary for eBay, who will respond by tightening the screws on the rest of us.
How's that for some clarity, bro?

How is Microsoft going to find him if he's using stealth info?
