Linking through folders?
 

Hello all,
Hope your all good!

Quick question about linking .
If i say have 4 images in a folder named S1 and I upload 2 to one stealth and the other 2 to a different stealth will ebay link through the folder?

Any help or info would be great.

I've seen on the eBay forums, they've got reps going round knocking on doors for face to face verification

I would not underestimate eBay "account linking" investigation techniques.

For sure they could know the path of the folder your pictures are uploaded from.

Since it doesn't cost much effort... I would keep pictures for different accounts in different folders, and so I am doing.

No, this won't link you. But if you use the same pictures across multiple eBay accounts, the PICTURES can link you.

If you get to the point where they're digging this much into your account, then you're probably already toast.

On which basis you are saying so?

Have you got any evidence they are definitively not doing it?

It is not a big effort to store where images are coming from for each account. Server knows where you are uploading them from.

I would agree they can see the path, but many people could have the same path, especially if they use the default "pictures" folder. I just don't think eBay would feel it is worth their while to do this.

Then again, if the path looks like:

C:\My Documents\Pictures\Ebay Stealth Accounts\Counterfeit Merchandise Accounts\Account 247165

then maybe you will have an issue...

LOL, Maybe people should just stop selling on Ebay if that's the case!

remember, the whole point of STEALTH is to blend in with other normal eBay users. If eBay police is already vetting you on stuff like what directory you're uploading files from, you have already failed at STEALTH, because they're already being treated differently than most users.

and yes, I separate pics to different directories, just so I don't accidentally use a pic on more than one account

I did not stated that "they are checking folders"... I'm just saying "they might". And this is impossible to prove, like it is not possible to prove the opposite...

It for sure wold be a weak link (like the IP stuff for dynamic IP connections) but it could rise some tiny light red flags.
On the other hand I think there will be absolutely no problem if you have all your pictures in a folder like

c:\temp

as most of windows user could have.

I am just saying, since OP is asking, that in my opinion would be safer to avoid doing so... An extra precaution if you wish.

All my pictures are in my default folder.
Never had an issue.

Well you could be on to something, you better delete all that porn before they catch you.

Although 4 images is nothing, when you fill up usb sticks with it, then you know you got a problem.

So there I was this afternoon, just upstairs in my bedroom sorting through some paperwork and next thing you know, there is a knock on the window and there are two eBay reps on ladders, trying to wave to me and one of them was pointing to his nametag, as the other guy was murmuring something that I couldn't really understand nor hear.

**** is getting very real, its that time of the year again.

hahaha had this problem one time too, big problem lol

in responce to the orignial question nah man u will be fine, i used the same picture with the same alt tags and title meta tags on 2 different accounts and thought i would be linked one time but it was grand they isn't really care actually

Careful on the suggestions you give here, pictures DO CREATE LINKS and this is very well explained and discussed in the forum.

If you want to play with fire, go on, but do not drag others into it. :nono:

i wore my blue shirt yesterday and listed a few things on one stealth, and kept the same shirt on and listed other items on my other stealth, serious answers please will ebay link me? Ive went and bought a white shirt, wont catch me in the same outfit listing again.
