Friend Requested by eBay Rep...

When I was increasing my sales in November and hit my limit of $ 15,000 (which I didn't even know existed), I called in and talked to a rep who was very nice. "Lee" reviewed my history and agreed to raise my seller limit to $ 30,000. A day after that, I received a friend request on Facebook from Lee. I figured, hey why not, and accepted.

Two weeks later I got my death message from eBay. I immediately emailed "my eBay friend" and asked what I should do. He quickly looked at my situation and advised me. It didn't help, but I did mention to him that I was looking at other options. His advice:

Really sorry about all this, K. The "system" does generate some head-scratching results. As for going "under the radar," I'll say this: That same "system" digs pretty deep in search of commonality between accounts: address info, financial info (like PayPal), computer IP's, etc. So you'll definitely want a lot of separation between your own identity and the identity associated with any account you use.

That said, I hope you succeed! And I also hope we can remain in touch.
Good luck!

Lee

With that being said, he has no knowledge of my new accounts...

Interesting conversation, yes?

So what's your point? Is there a question here?

Interesting but "lee" didn't say anything new....:pout:

No, no question. Just thought I'd share what an actual eBay rep had to say about going under the radar.

And we appreciate it! Really. Yes, Lee did not say anything that we do not already know. But it DOES serve as a confirmation from someone on the inside.

It just drives home the point that eBay has bots looking for this stuff constantly. Knowing that it is mostly bots IS helpful, because it can give you some insight as to how to best approach the situation.

I would encourage all of our members to keep posting. Don't assume that everyone else already knows it, especially when that information comes from someone that is actually behind enemy lines. You never know what is useful.

I just thought it would be interesting to share what an eBay rep had to say. I am still "friends" with him on Facebook. Might come in handy some day!

I don't like to burn my bridges! I'd rather build them wherever I can!

Re: Friend Requested by eBay Rep...

The only time we will ever get a USEFUL advice is from someone who actually works in the department that programs or works with the bots.

When we asks reps (i'm guilty of this too) advice or questions about this stuff they only have limited information themselves. I used to work at Bestbuy and although I knew a lot about lost prevention and how they spot people there was also ALOT of stuff I didn't know.

I was became personally friends with the supervisor of lost prevention and I came to find out ALOT of interesting stuff I never knew. Things are kept private for reasons...

I agree. So one of us (um, solefoodbk did I hear you volunteer?) should become rather friendly with someone on the inside.

I wonder if eBay is hiring? lol

Suddenly I'm hearing the song from The Jefferson's. "We're Movin' On Up!"

Was that the actual quote of the ebay rep (with your name deleted of course), or was it a paraphrase? Either way, great info!

That was his statement, word for word. I just pasted and copied it here.

Do you guys run java on your browsers on stealth? I've always had mine disabled and always wondered if it was enabled could it cause links between accounts.

Also, does anyone run adblock on your stealth browser?

If you mean javascript, I've never disabled it and it's never been an issue. I don't think eBay or paypal use any Java, but they do use a lot of JS.

I've also never disabled flash since all my stuff is separated in VM's.

And yes, I use adblock for firefox.

Re: Friend Requested by eBay Rep...

Im curious if the rep knew you were using stealth. Or how could he help in the future. He knows your ebay is suspended so if you go to him again wouldn't this create an automatic link that may screw you in the future.

It seems like his advice was to deter you from just opening another account using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and thinking it would be fine.

This was BEFORE I learned about stealth and this forum. I was thinking about just signing up under a different name and that was his advice to me.
