how to ship to scammer in Pakistan safely?
 

buyer bought expensive $800 item. paypal payment says confirmed address to Pakistan and seller protection eligible.

I can tell his account is hacked. The account is from 1997 (usually all old accounts are from California) and has 2,000+ feedback.

I called paypal and they couldn't tell me much since it's someone else's account but they pretty much confirmed that it was hacked. Nonetheless, they tell me if i want to ship it out I can since I'm covered through seller protection.

I want to ship out because I got a really good sale price. But, how do I do it safely? I am noticing EMS Express Mail to non-big countries (UK, France, etc.) just show delivered not signed. Do I need to mail DHL, Fedex or UPS? And what method?
I saw post earlier about a guy mailing to middle east and buyer didn't pay customs fees and that country has a rule that they don't mail items back to sender. I never heard of such rules.
Do you see any problems here?

my only concern is I plan on getting $800 insurance so buyer will have heavy customs fees $100-$200. and he won't pick up package, but does paypal refund buyer since i'll get item back or do i keep money as it's buyer fault for not paying customs fees.

Why would you even consider shipping to a hacked account? I don't follow - if the account is sketch, block, cancel, and move on

You should block countries you don't want to sell to so you can avoid these types of buyers.

If the buyer doesn't pay the customs tax, you might not get your package back as no one is paying the return shipping. It happens in UPS international packages often.

My man, don't be greedy- Seems like you are doing this ONLY because you actually made a sale and are making profit from it. You know you will have problems with this transaction if you do it, so why even bother?

You either made so much from the sale that you can't say NO to it, which means that you are either greedy or its because you have sold overpriced item and you know this item will not sell again for similar price.

Desperados, greed and future problems. Just avoid all of this!

Sounds like youre actively looking for trouble with this situation.
You KNOW something bad is about to happen and yet your pursuing it.
Refund, cancel and move on.

Just like everyone else says. Why would you even consider risking it? There are some countries you simply don't bother with.

Yes, the sale price of $800 was very good. It might take months for the item to sell again at that price (if it even does), realistically if I put it in 7 day auction I'm expecting $300. Was thinking $500-$600 range for best offers but again it'd take months for the right buyer.

If it wasn't seller protection eligible I would never ship it. But it is seller protection eligible. Maybe I am being greedy. Sure, it's risky for PayPal if it doesn't work (which I don't think it will), but it's PayPal's money not mines, and quite honestly F*** Paypal:d

I've had times where I shipped Russia and Mexico and it was disputed but seller protection eligible and it was literally a 10 second phone call and providing them tracking and money is back in my account.

If I am missing something here, fill me in....
I plan on getting insurance so if it's lost I'll be covered.
I plan on shipping method that will require signature and state the exact address it was delivered to. So I am cover for unauthorized and item not received.
I just need to make sure I get item back if customs fees not paid.
And if buyer states not as described, he has to mail back exact item in same condition or he won't get refund.

So what can be the problem? Am I missing anything here?

Didnt you say that paypal told you the account was hacked??? If it was hacked than arent you concerned that you will lose the item and the money?

Do you not have a 21 day hold on your account and already received the funds instantly

OP must of received an instant payment of $800 and has already cashed out and closed up shop. I cant see them taken a risk while funds are in a 21 day hold, if that were the case than theres no way they would be thinking of shipping anything in this horrible situation

Being from pakistan, im going have to say dont ship there, forget the buyer even receiving the item. The customs over there usually just keep the items(unless buyer knows them)
Trust me its a free for all over there, like in the u.s if you work for a company you have a boss or someone higher than you to check upon your work, over there its not like that at all.

I still rember at the airport the security guards openly asking for a bribe, to let me go through baggage checking.

So even if you do ship, it might not get delivered which will be a problem
When you provide paypal with tracking.

Second of all there is no paypal in pakistan.(obvious reasons)

The country is great and all in its own way, but its a free for all over there.
This is advice to any other members as well that might want to ship there.

So, OP,you seem to only hear what you want to hear at this point.

You are still asking the same question even though everyone is telling you what will most likely happen.

Hell, even someone FROM the country told you not ship there.

Id like to think that your account has built up some credibility if you are able to accept the $800 without issue?
Is the account worth the 99% scam rate sale to do it all over again?

I think OP just wants the money from seller protection and not from hacked person. Assuming just going to send an inexpensive product not the real sold item....

Apart from it being risky to your account if paypal think you have been shady, it may not go your way anyway and you are out whatever you ship and the postage.

Also, why cause the hacked person worry or hassle?

I do not understand how paypal told you it is hacked and would still tell you to ship?

Hold the money for at least a week. Normally if the PayPal account got hacked, the account owner will reserve the money very soon, especially with the high amount of money. After a week, if no charge back, you can ship it to him but make sure that you set up the correct protection plan for yourself. Another way is you can request that user information from eBay, and call the account owner to check if they purchased the item or not.

Story is for me, not SUGGESTING but.. I purchased high end item from China, and I received a pencil in the mail. Tracking showed up delivered and signed for. Best advise all money is not good money, although you've made a good fair profit, might be best to just walk away from it. Have some good Karma going for yourself. So sit twiddle your thumbs and thoughts because even if YOU suspect an unsavory buyer, more then likely will cause more issues to come. Your instinct is telling you something aint right so might be best to treat it as that.

Very true, there could be a rather good reason why the OP got such a sensational, beyond all expectation price.

I got an offer like this on a 'for sale' ad once. Seemed such a nice chap, turns out he was a tribal prince from Nigeria. :suspicious:

I think you missed the point guys...I am "pretty sure" he's a scammer, but paypal doesn't. But if it's seller protection eligible it doesn't matter if scammer because it's paypal loss not mines.

and these types of unauthorized transaction chargebacks doesn't count against you the seller at all (after all, we can't pick our buyers, can we?). but if i refund him it'll count as a defect (small, but nonetheless a defect).

He asked invoice and I sent him invoice with $100 shipping and he complained "says outside USA $30 in your listing, blah blah, change it so i can pay" After changing, he paid. Why would scammer complain $70 if it's not his money?

BUT...I asked buyer how he is buying from Pakistan and he says he's buying more than 10 years no problem. But, when I asked other sellers that left him feedback if it was problem shipping to him in Pakistan and they all said they mailed to him in the UK.

Paypal didn't tell me ip addresses but said he didnt use the Pakistan address before and limited his account for more info. But I see on ebay he's buying 20 things every month, so if it is hacked...the original buyer should notice right away...it's not an old inactive account.

nonetheless, it is seller protection eligible. if paypal says safe to ship, it's safe to ship, they cant tell you a week later it's not eligible. Some times they send follow up emails "it was an unauthorized transaction, if you shipped out provide tracking we have you covered, if you haven't shipped out, than please dont". I say F paypal...wait 3 days....ship out and give tracking and get paid by seller protection:pop2:

I would love to know what you think seller protection is, as I can assure you it is not a 100% cast iron guarantee you will win a case.
