upgrading to a business account

Hello. I have come to that selling allowances that I can no longer request higher selling allowances unless I upgrade to a business account.
The thing is, I have not registered my business activity anywhere, so the question is - will they upgrade my account to a business one if I do not have any documents that proof that my business is legal? Will it be enough just my ID and proof of address?

By the way, account is registered in .co.uk

Thank you for your advice!

If you are just talking about ebay, then the answer is no, they don't require any documents.

You literally just click a button and your account changes. That's all there is to it.

Just upgrade it through eBay.

They wont ask for paperwork.

Also, if you are just stuck with same selling limits you could perhaps try to sell to the limits and see if they are going to bump it for you?

Re: upgrading to a business account

I upgraded to business account easily and everything seemed okay.

Today I wanted to increase the quantity of one of my items and suddenly it says that my fees so far (for revising the listing) is 0.35 pound sterling (insertion fee)

But I still have 18 FREE listings this months

So, why do they still charge me?

You should ask them...perhaps a glitch on their part

so you agree that it should not be like this? so it's some kind of a bug?

Re: upgrading to a business account

I called them and I found out that promotional offer of 20 FREE listings per month is only applicable to private sellers...
That's kinda ridiculous, because of that it's beneficial to stay as a private seller and not to upgrade to a business one.

Yes they do have glitches at times, once I was able to list products as much as I want though my limit was just 200. That was only for a day.

Each seller status has its perks :( sadly the nature of eB not to be ultra-clear...

Re: upgrading to a business account

is there anyway to downgrade the account back to private one?
And ofc, to have the same limits.

Downgrade? Never tried that - why not build new accounts?

I am not that big seller that I would need many stealth accounts, I am fine with my main one. :)

I had the same problem. I didn't understand why they charge even for revising an item. I wanted to downgrade. I called in. The rep kept me waiting for about 15 minutes. In the end he said a downgrade is possible but further investigation needed. It might take a few days for us to investigate your account. When it's done we will let you know.
It's been more than a month no one called me or emailed me back. I subscribed to a shop plan. It is like a personal account. You get free listings.

Yes, but you have to pay for a shop then... ;/
I am not that big seller so it would be beneficial for me to have a business account or even a shop subscription.

When I called them, I was told exactly the same - there will be an investigation of your account and we will let you know. It's been 5 days already - no answer from them, so I will call them again today.

Check your account status, just incase it's already done

I downgraded an account from business to personal, and the change was done without me knowing. They didn't send me any notification saying it was done.
