| | | vbnerdmanyeah | 07-18-2016 08:27 PM | Help with buyer claiming they received empty box Hey everyone, I sold a CPU on ebay and the buyer is claiming that they received an empty box. The item was sent in retail packaging (obviously with the cpu inside the box) and the shipping weight was 1lb and that shows on the tracking number. I had a conversation with the buyer and they told me that that the CPU was not in the box and the shipment weighed 0.4 lbs when it arrived and they also stated that the shipment was cut open and the cpu looked like it was stolen. They made a claim on paypal so I have a negative balance on paypal at the moment. I've never been in this situation before so I am wondering what the best case of action is here and how to win this claim (I have the conversation in our ebay messages). |
Re: Help with buyer claiming they received empty box Sounds fishy considering that who would know that there was a CPU inside other than the recipient. You need to call the buyers bluff, if you sold it to someone in the US or CA you can always use the old, "Going to start a postal investigation with Post Office" and see if they get scared. |

They ended up filing the claim on paypal anyways |

In your best inerest if sent Priority mail file for the free usps insurance up to 50. |

You want to dampen this at once.
Tell the buyer you have evidence of the state of the parcel sent because of its monetary balance. You will be filing a claim, including the buyers' details to try to pinpoint where or how there was interefence with the Postal Service... Which of course is an offense.
For the future, avoid feeding buyers like this in any way.

Re: Help with buyer claiming they received empty box @vbnerd, what was the value of the final sale? Did you buy insurance? |
| vbnerdmanyeah | 07-22-2016 10:34 AM | Re: Help with buyer claiming they received empty box I managed to win the paypal dispute and got the funds back but the buyer left a negative feedback a few days ago. I called ebay to reverse it before the paypal dispute was solved and they did not reverse it at the time but would I have a chance in getting it reversed now that I have won the paypal case? |

You would most likely encounter a different ebay employee more willing to help you. |

| Romangeeks | 08-06-2016 04:44 AM | Re: Help with buyer claiming they received empty box Your first mistake was threatening him about reporting him to the postal office. This guy is clearly a scammer and wants to keep the product. What you should have done was apologized about what happened, cancel the transaction and write it off, or if it's really that valuable have insurance on it and file a claim with your insurer.
I'm quite positive your going to end up losing the case and getting a big fat ugly negative DSR on your account. Next time learn and live up to your customers expectations. Your being looked at as a company not a person.
