| | | peghmeypong | 09-07-2016 02:07 PM | Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay I know the general advice is to avoid calling in/contacting EB/PP.
That said, as I mentioned earlier, when selling high value items, I've often had scammers buy it and send me the "please send me a PayPal invoice to..... Blah blah blah" email. In each and every case, I've contacted eBay through the live chat feature and had my selling allowance restored.
Rather than wiping the transaction off the allowance, it increases your allowance to give you what you had. Example: Allowance £650, moody transaction £450, allowance will be increased to £1100 with £450 used up.
The hidden benefit of this is that the allowance stays permanently on the account. I've had allowances raised by £4000 and that has remained on the account permanently (when scammers try to outscam each other, idiots).
Perhaps you all already knew that, something to think about if not. |

| oompaloompa | 09-07-2016 02:24 PM | Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay the buyer accs are obviously linked somehow, one happened to go down and the others are maybe on some kind of hold, the user of those accs wanted to buy your item so kept trying....
maybe it was the attempt to buy your item that ebay was watching, eg. whoever bought it was a linked acc? |
| fox20c | 09-07-2016 02:40 PM | Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay This guy is using a cracked ebay account to try and get you to invoice him. This is an old ebay scam and has been around a while, seen it many times before. You will usually see it with higher priced items or very popular items (iphones, and other high end electronics). What can help a little bit is to run the listing as an auction. Not the optimal solution but it does cut down on scammers. |

I'm asking how THIS specific situation is someone possibly scamming someone. | Hacked accounts with either stolen credit cards or the real account owner really did not purchase the item(s) and called ebay to let them know that the package is going to an 'unauthorized' address that is usually added by the scammer before the sale starts.
I have this when I am selling electronics and eliminate around 90% of the problems by giving the buyer a simple call and waiting 3 days to ship out the electronics via priority or UPS.
I had it earlier this year when I had to get rid of a few PS4s. Got 6 'buyers' shut down in a row. All wanted me to ship them to russia. :smash: |

Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay Unbelievable...
So this time it's not someone who goes through Buy It Now...
This buyer bid at the very end of the auction and won (perhaps the same guy all along) 0 feedback and account created less than 2 days ago.
He messages me the following after winning the auction: Hi Seller,
Am glad to have won your item, I will like to pay via PayPal cos
it's safe and secured. Kindly log into your paypal account and send me a
PayPal money request to my PayPal email address
{emailhere},also send me your phone number so i can text you
once the funds have been transferred. I will pay for the postage fee,
provide a US address and will do my best to send the payment ASAP once I
receive your PayPal payment request.
Looking forward to a swift
response.
Kind Regards,
buyer

Clearly this is fishy and he's trying to scam me. If you win an auction, you check out and pay with PayPal on your own, you dumbass. I don't need to send you anything! I will obviously not even bother dealing with him. Doubt I'll respond to the message.
I just want to cancel the transaction, get my fees back and hope he doesn't leave negative feedback. I'll wait 24-48 hours to see if perhaps eBay will yet again notice something fishy, flag the account and suspend it and/or cancel the transaction like they've kept doing. |

I agree with james13v. It's easy to say it's a scam, but what part about this is a "scam"? | ok, so now you know |

Now, if we assume this is the same person, it is clearly a scam and it's easy to see what it is - unlike before. There's a red flag with the account this time + a clearly sketchy, scammy message.
Regardless, I'm getting really annoyed with this. |
Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay Should I report the buyer?
It's also worth nothing that this time, the address it shows for him is in the UK. Yet in the message I copy and pasted above, he says: "I will pay for the postage fee, provide a US address and will do my best to send the payment ASAP" http://image.prntscr.com/image/da9da...fab69197eb.png |
Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay Well, that was quick... Never submitted the complaint/report about the buyer, but... https://i.imgur.com/PgAqfia.png
As much as I hate eBay, it's good to see their security measures are working.
Really wish this would stop though. |
| peghmeypong | 09-12-2016 12:30 AM | Re: Something VERY WEIRD going on while selling this item on eBay For future reference, if you open an unpaid item case, it blocks them leaving feedback.
In the same way, if they leave negative feedback, opening an unpaid item case will remove it. |
