new IP protocol?
 

I tethered through my iphone today, and usually I see an IP address such as this: 169.41.12.123.

Now I get something like this: 1609:fc90:2547:3f6e:3d36:1409:cb78:c7e9

It shows up as this on both Ipburger and another IP checked I sometimes use, so it's probably not a fluke.

I'm thinking this is related to the new 1pv6 protocol, and that we should treat it just like we did the old IP address rules, no duplicates, etc, but I wanted to know if anybody has seen this and if it's a problem?

just use whoer.net instead of ipburger. whoer.net will give you the ipv4.

Can also disable ipv6 on your computer if you prefer

Yes and no. eBay/Paypal is IPv4 only, as long as you check your IPV4 address before going on the website, it's fine.

The title of the site is misleading, but it does check ipv4 only.
