Ask buyers to leave "+" feedbacks...

Hi guys,

Do you ask your buyers to leave you positive feedbacks? If so, when do you ask and what do you say? Thanks!

Jonas 04-26-2009 05:25 AM

I tell them the truth about DSRs. I got a bunch of accounts. On one, they're 4.7-4.8 and the average for some things on eBay is 4.8 because they're banning people with 4.5s and 4.6s (watch ) and well one is actually 5.0 all across.

Juicyas 04-26-2009 12:28 PM

I put a sticker in with each package saying thanks for the purchase and if they could leave 5 stars that would be great. If there's any reason why they wouldn't, to let me know and I'll sort it out.

Works pretty well, I went 4.4/4.5 average to ~4.8 after I started doing that

This is a good idea. Many buyers simply have no idea that a four in the DSRs can kill your account.

moomooj 04-26-2009 08:41 PM

I like the sticker idea. I am making some Thank You cards now. Hope that will make a difference.

TGMT² 04-26-2009 09:01 PM

I find by simply adding a "Free Gift" to each package will almost guarantee good feedback and great DSR ratings.

I have a packing slip which explains how misleading eBays wording is, and how badly low stars impact upon small sellers. I also add a small freebie. In the past I have found this to be very successful at keeping up great DSRs. However it doesnt always work.

Recently I had 2 bad buyers who only left 1 star for postage/packing. In both cases they were international transactions.

One buyer in USA didnt read the listing properly and wanted to just pay for UK domestic postage. She sounded so upset I told her "ok I will ship if for this price even though it doesnt cover my costs. The way eBay presents the info on the new listing layout is very misleading. But please bear in mind that I did not design this layout and have no contro over it." She agreed - and then trashed my shipping star.

I only trade in US dollars and 95% of my stuff goes international I agreed to accept a sterming check from a buyer in Cyprus (an expat Brit) and I converted it at that days rates and quoted the item & shipping price. If she thought the shipping was too high that was the chance to query it before she bought. I even send her package before the check cleared so she wouldnt have to wait. She trashed my stars as well.

I wrote to both of them explaining what the impact of their actions had on my business. The US one was a nasty piece of work and did not care but the other buyer was horrified.

trg005 06-27-2009 05:31 AM

When I send the buyer their tracking number I write something similar to this:

Hi. Here is your USPS Express (overnight) tracking number: xxxxxx. Thanks so much for buying from me. Once your bag is delivered, if you are happy with it and my service will you please leave me positive feedback with 5 stars? 5 Stars is most important to ebay. They are suspending sellers for less than 5 stars. I will leave you positive feedback as well! Again, thanks for buying form me and I hope you enjoy your Balenciaga for many years to come!

These are really great suggestions - This thread should merge with the other FB threads.

This should actually make me see stars!

Great idea.I'm going to do this way and see whehter my DSR will be increased!

As my English is not that professional, would you mind suggesting me that what polite words I should write as a note in package to make the the buyer pleased so that they would like to leave me 5 star positive feedback?Appreciate it!

philly387 09-23-2009 02:37 AM

"Thank you for your purchase! You are helping my child get through college and he greatly appreciates it. Please contact me if you are unhappy at all, and if you are satisfied, please leave some great feedback."

Maybe something along those lines? I am sure someone can spice it up a little bit more. That is what I can come up with at the moment.

GreenBean 09-23-2009 02:49 AM

hehe. Poor kid does not know what lies ahead for college ;) I'll post one later
for alexin.:peace:

WAHAHAHAHA... this one nearly crack me up!

Anyway back to the topic... getting my buyers to give me feedback is so BLOODY difficult. What I did is to include a paypal shipping slip where I would wrote "Thank you for shopping with us, please leave us a positive feedback once you are satisfied with your item etc etc etc" but it doesn't seem to be working well." I have shipped out about 40-60 items across all my ebay account and the current feedback I received is only less than 10 for each account. Man... What kind of free gifts you guys add in your postage?

OfficialGenius 10-01-2009 03:00 AM

This is such a good thread!

Burst 10-02-2009 08:59 AM

Heres an answer.

Put a paper with the words *PLEASE LEAVE + FEEDBACK* printed all over it. I mean all over it. Not line after line. But throw it around about 10 times on the paper. Print bulk of them in ink saving format, and include in every order.

s2k 10-02-2009 11:16 AM

Have u tried it? I wouldn't be bothered if I am the customer seeing this

philly387 10-02-2009 11:36 AM

If it was myself getting a package and reading what Burst posted, I would laugh at it and probably leave positive feedback and make a smart ass comment. But that's just me...

Vicvelcro 10-07-2009 04:07 AM

If I opened up a box of ebay swag I bought that had something like that in it, I'd leave +FB and probably send some goofy postcard via snailmail. That would be too funny for me to NOT comply.

aking 10-07-2009 10:56 AM

Good ideas, I usually just send them a message on eBay and say "Thank you for your purchase. I am ready to leave you positive feedback and hope that you do the same. Thanks again."

I am thinking about the note thing as well. Great Idea.

Does anyone use the paypal generated packing slip or do you make your own?

biglouis999 10-12-2009 09:30 PM

It depends on what you sell. Most of my customers are women or men buying for their GF/partner so I add a small piece of jewellery like a hair slide or pendant. I buy a lot of mixed auction lots with small stuff in them so I save it up for freebies.

x2ruff4u 01-24-2010 04:31 AM

You recently purchased a wonderful product. Please enjoy and leave feedback to let other know your the brand new owner of so so!

lol... im not sure i just spent 5 minutes here...

First Edition 01-24-2010 09:52 AM

You're always going to get someone who will leave a negative no matter what. I always ask for positive feedback. I also leave positive feedback automatically. The system was much more fair when sellers could leave a neg.

Burning 01-27-2010 05:20 PM

Maybe we should buy custom tape that says please leave feedback. Put it allllll over............

moomooj 02-08-2010 10:19 PM

Since I started this thread last year, I've tried many things from Thank You cards, sticker on the box to giving out small gifts, I've realized that the most effective way is actually emailing the buyers and ask for feedbacks directly. And I do NOT leave fb for buyers until I receive mine. My email says something like this:

Thank you for purchasing [ITEMTITLE]. Please leave feedback for me on eBay if you are happy with your purchase. Please feel free to contact me if you are not completely satisfied with your order, as customer satisfaction is my highest priority. Thank you again for your purchase! And thank you in advance for the 5-star rating!

I hope this is helpful for those who think FBs are important. :)

generousclaw 12-23-2012 06:49 PM

I feedback all of my buyers immediately upon receiving payment........

PERFECT_THANK_YOU_Please_Give_5_★★★★★_For_Each_Rat ing_Or_TellMe_If_Any_IssueX

I get around 80% feedback and my dsr's have literally shot up, huge visible difference

waterproof 12-24-2012 12:32 AM

Although feedback and the DSR's are very important, be very careful of feedback extortion. Some people just like to tell on others. Sucks, but very true.

Does eBay frown on this?

I like it. I shall try.

dreamer90 01-05-2013 01:09 PM

Never leave feedback for buyers, until you have recieved yours! Simply asking the buyer after you know the goods were delivered... i tried the giving free gifts route, doesn't work. I know one guy who is subscribed to this annoying 'feedback begging' website where everyday they send emails to buyers who have not left a feedback until they gotten a feedback.

Now I'm curious as to what website that is?

Sandy D 01-06-2013 03:48 AM

I dont leave any until it is received.

My experience recently.

Thank you for your purchase. I appreciate your business and see your item arrived.
When you get time could you please leave feedback and I will do the same.

Then I got a couple of these.

I got the item and feel it is not what I really wanted and would like to save you some money by asking you to discount the item so you wont have to pay return shipping.

I never leave feedback until the seller who is suppose to leave it upon payment does. ( LOL ). Once I do I then follow up with feedback.

Just chancing it I left a really nice feedback. What did I get.

just ok.

Mr. Invisible 01-07-2013 03:50 PM

I never beg for or chase feedback with further contact.... that's when you get neutrals &/or 3 & 4 star surprises from disgruntled buyers.

Speeder33 01-12-2013 04:10 PM

I disagree, asking for feedback really helps, people don't leave as many negs once they realize you are a real person trying to run a business

rsot 01-12-2013 10:25 PM

I include a polite note or card with the purchase saying please leave positive feedback and feel free to contact as needed for other selections, etc.
