Ask buyers to leave feedback

just wondering is it okay to send your buyers a message thro' ebay and ask them to leave positive feedback or is that a no-no. And is it better to do thro ebay or there email address. Thanks

There are ways to ask for FB. I never do it thro' the ebay system or emails. BUT I do contact the buyers to encourage FB.

We had a lot of fun in this thread about getting FB. Read it & see what you think. This thread is now in the EBAY FEEDBACK forum. Not sure if you have read any of it but theres TONS of info for you :peace:

Its fine- if there was a problem with it then there wouldn't be an option to automate feedback reminders and edit the email that's sent.

AAARRRGGGHH!!! This is so annoying, why do buyer ignore my emails and messages to leave feedback. How hard is it to do? eBay needs to make it so you automatically get positive feedback after 2 weeks of no response. This is esp annoying on new accounts when you feedback score is very important. You can sell all you want, but with no positive feedback you get nowhere!!

Good idea. I'm going to email them with this suggestion. Everyone should team up together and do the same!

I have that problem now. I sold 11 items on a new account, received no complaints, but only received 2 feedbacks. Without being able to sell in quantity or list as 1 day auctions, selling is really inconvenient. The way I am going with feedback, though, I will have to list 50 items just to get 10 positive.

what are you actually doing to get the FB? Have you put a note with the item? Some buyers need a nudge to do the FB for us

revenge 01-31-2010 01:36 AM

I always leave a note or a thank you letter reminding them to leave a feedback.

Please leave me a feedback, I know where you live. I also know what you bought last summer and I have you phone number too. Do you want your wife to find out?

I find a nice message through eBay AFTER they've received their item works pretty well for me. I prefer to send the note through eBay rather than directly via eMail. This way, the buyer is already logged into eBay to view the message, so it's a few less clicks for them to leave the feedback.

I generally say something along the lines of:

"According to our shipping records, we show that you have recently received the item you purchased from us. We just wanted to check in with you to make sure the item arrived safely and to your satisfaction. If so, we would greatly appreciate it if you could leave us positive feedback and 5 star Detailed Seller Ratings.

Both of these things are very important to the eBay community and maintaining a safe and fun trading environment for all members. If you'll check your feedback, you'll see that we have already left positive feedback for you.

If you are unsatisfied for any reason, or there is any reason you would not leave us 5 star ratings, please contact us right away so that we can make things right with you. We pride ourselves on our personalized customer service and we appreciate your business!"

I have about 3-4 variations of that statement that I send out so I can mix it up. That way if a person is a repeat buyer, the chances of them getting the "same" note is reduced, and just in case eBay ever decides to check messages, they won't see the same note being used over and over again on multiple accounts.

I hope you don't use these quoted messages anymore because if a ebay or paypal spy were to see this message here they would ding you if it matches the one in your ebay account. Good example though!

Thanks, and don't worry... I ALWAYS make sure to paraphrase stuff like that on here and NEVER cut + paste from anything I actually use.

Yes, my tinfoil hat is on VERY tight!
