I'm sure ebay will change eventually... but I really think their motivation, like any business, is money.

I think mentioning anything about fraud or how it will hurt you if they leave less that 5 stars is very unprofessional. I don't think soliciting for feedback or ratings is a good idea. I like the Vistaprint card idea, but only as a tool to please the customer- Thank you for your business, blah blah blah.
Personally, I offer free shipping (usually) and I ship same day, and I always package the product as professionally as possible am available by email immediately, etc. My DSRs are very high, and all of my accounts have 100% positive feedback, including my powerseller account. I try to just offer superior customer service, and if that compels someone to rate me, then great.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well put Slick:thumb:
It's what gets done from go to whoa that counts,imo. For me, the return buyers that confirm this:yar:

With my account, I have just a few $$ above actual postage. My products are set slightly higher than my competitors. I put a sticker on my invoices -

Ebay considers anything less than 5 stars as poor performance on the seller's part. This can result in higher fees for the seller, as well as low search ratings and being banned from Ebay. However, Ebay gives the buyer the impression that any rating is fine for the seller. We work hard to earn 5 stars with every transaction. If you are happy with this transaction, please let Ebay and other buyers know by leaving 5 stars and positive feedback.
Thank you!

My DSR's are 4.8 & 4.9. Sales are through the roof!

Even if you provide the best service and product possible, you will still get people that will leave a negative. IMO... I've worked in customer service (even outside of ebay) for YEARS. And some people are just impossible to please.

Yes sir, you got free shipping. How then did you leave me 3 out 4 for shipping charges?

GreenBean 05-11-2010 06:05 PM

@First, 'Sir' is an A-grade a-hole that's why:rolleyes: Nothing pleases some customers.:peace:

Agreed. :)

I think part of it is that we are programmed to just not rate anything other than "average", which would be 3. Not quite perfect (5). But not terrible (1).

Of course, I just got hit by a moron that nailed me with 1's all the way across in my other store because she was unhappy with only 1 aspect of the purchase. And she purchased 5 items. Had 100% fb and 4.9 & 5.0 across the board. Even hit my shipping. She received free shipping.
