Can Your Account Be Restricted/Suspended For A High % Ratio Of Neutrals?

Hello,

I've been selling on eBay for about 1 year, and have a total of approx. 900 feedback ratings with 2 negatives and 7 neutrals (overall rating is 99.8%). The problem is that, while the 2 negatives were from many months ago, 5 of the 7 neutrals were received in this month.

I've done about 140 transactions this month, with no negatives, but 5 neutrals. However, 2 of the 5 came from the same person who bought two of the exact same thing on the same day, so in eBay's eyes is that really just 4 neutrals for the month? I'm very, very worried that 5 neutrals against 140 rated transactions is a devastatingly bad ratio.

In any event, even though I've had no negatives this month, can the ratio of 5 neutrals against 140 transactions so far cause an account restriction or suspension? My DSR ratings otherwise are in good shape. It's just very strange how I've suddenly seen such a surge in neutrals and am curious about how it could affect my account. My hope is that it can't, but after reading this forum and reading so many horror stories I'm leaning toward the idea that it very well could affect it...

Yes it Can, Although Neutral Feedback is Not negative, Ebay looks on Neutral Feedback as the Buyer NOT HAVING a POSITIVE Experience with the transaction, and can indeed Limit your account. Your Move here is to Get As Many Positive feedbacks in the Shortest possible time period before a Review comes along

All you have to do is look at your dsr's in the dashboard, keep you ratings above 4.60 and your overall rating above 98% and you should be fine, just sell lots of cheap stuff to make up for any low ratings.

Thanks for the advice - it's tremendously helpful. Just one more question: 2 of the 5 neutrals were left by the same buyer for the same product purchased on the same day. In eBay's eyes, do those truly count as two individually? Do I truly have 5 neutrals, or from eBay's vantage point is it really 4?

Thanks.

They look at unique feedback which would make it 4 but I don't think they care about that, that's what they have the ratings and percentage for, when you fall below 4.60 on one of your ratings and you're below 98% that's when your looking bad.

Its all about dsr's now, not neutral or negatives, you can get 100's of negatives a month and still not get suspended if your dsr's are good.

Also it only counts as 1 feedback for the same buyer who left you 5 in one day, they count them individually if they are left 7 days after one another, so for example if he waited and left you 1 feedback every Monday for 5 weeks it would count as 5 but all left in the same day only 1, ya get me.

My advice for you newbies is to read the ebay help pages, its all explained there.

If I were to buy a bunch of stuff (maybe 20 items or so) to get positive feedback, would that be ok? Not ultra-cheap stuff, just regular things. My concern is that, while I have no negatives, if I get one more neutral it will slip over 5% of my positives (just for this month - overall, the ratio of neutrals to positives is 1%). Doesn't eBay do a 30-day restriction if you go over 5% neutrals in one month? So do purchases as a buyer count toward the feedback ratio, or does eBay isolate the feedback I've received as a seller?

Thanks again for all your help - you all have been really helpful.

Not really. Pointless imo. It is the DSR's that are crucial now. There must be some $2 items with 1cent shipping you can sell. Note the 1cent shipping. Its widely believed some buyers leave 3 stars for Free shipping. When in desperate need of DSR's I sell with like 3pence delivery they go crazy for it!

Do NOT Kid yourselves, If you are selling "High Risk" Items and Have perfect DSR's but have Enough Neutrals in your Feedback, Ebay WILL BOOT YOU-- It Happened to me--All it took was MY FIRST and ONLY Buyer Dispute on an Account with a 99.1%, with DRS's No LOWER than 4.8 and with Positive "Rating" with over 1500 Positive feedbacks--Ebay suspended me
