The entire issue is not hitting those numbers because people have received the request for as low as 5,200.00 in sale and 175 items sold.

It is the POTENTIAL of you hitting those numbers.

If you sell 100 items this month and 75 items next month be prepared to either not sell on that account the rest of the year or have the proper info ready for them because it is coming.

*** People need to understand it is the law to pay your proper taxes on your income. And the most important thing you can do is keep good records, hire a book keeper so you are doing things within the law and use your WRITE OFFS wisely.

Write offs are essential. If you can legally deduct something why not?


Hire a book keeper first and foremost. They will keep you on track on doing things within the law.

Spread and build as many accounts as you can for now and the future.

I go for anything that I have laying around the house that hasn't been used in 6 months - 1 year and then branch off from there.. always good to check out the DVD bin at walmart.. if you can compare prices on the fly

Just because you receive the request it does not mean your account is going to be limited by PayPal. Atleast it hasn't meant it the past two years. They average out your sales and try to project how much in $ales you are going to have. Also the law is 200 transactions and $20k. I have had accounts where I sold 300-400 items on each of the past two years without interruption. I did have the constant request for the Tax ID from PayPal every time I logged on but I kept my $ales numbers low enough it never looked like I would go over the 20k limit and they never did anything else. The constant nagging for the 1099k went away at the beginning of the new year each time.

Also Sandy is right by law you are suppose to report all income you receive. For the admins like always I don't give people advice on how to dodge taxes. I try to help users on here run stealth accounts without interruption from eBay and PayPal.
