EBAY fee changes, fee policy changes, rate changes for fees

Like clockwork, every year ebay raises its fees.

What will they raise them to this year?

Jonas 01-02-2008 08:34 PM

LiveHelp says they haven't heard anything. I wonder if ebay will raise them.

eBay to Increase Final Value Fees, Lower Listing Fees..
Good for us, eh?

eBay Expected to Announce Fee Changes Soon

Seller 01-19-2008 10:13 PM

That sounds like good news to me.
I think things might start to turn in our favor in the future. Ebay is really hurting, buyers are getting very frustrated with there experience and it all comes down to there ridiculous fees putting sellers out of business or making it impossible for us to move our inventory.
Amazon might be our savior we just need a competitor, to keep ebay straight.
More importantly we need a competitor to paypal. That is why this forum is so great. It really stresses using a merchant account. Heck merchant account fees are less, why doesnt everyone use them?

Jonas 01-19-2008 10:37 PM

There's lots of competitors to paypal. Most of these competitors are listed on http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html under the section "Payment Services not permitted on eBay"

Chris Hanson 01-20-2008 07:23 PM

Amazon buyout coming soon

EBay cutting listing fees, boosting commissions - CNN article

koalawash 01-29-2008 04:56 PM

Quote:

EBay Inc. said Tuesday it will cut by up to 50 percent the fees it charges sellers to list their goods online
Meanwhile they just about double the Final Value Fees!! I wonder if eBay paid CNN to selectively report this crap.

Over $1,000.01 8.75% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.50% of the initial $25.00 - $1,000.00 plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

To see the full list of new fees gohere

atmlx 02-19-2008 03:53 PM

Didnt they say they will by taking something like 66% more of the final sale price?

thelizardking 02-19-2008 04:02 PM

yeah it used to be 5.25% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.25% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000.00) so they upped it to 8.75% which is 66% more than before.

ebayvictim 02-19-2008 04:04 PM

The Final value fee increase is a 66% increase in their fees!

highwhey 02-19-2008 04:08 PM

So if I sell a 6,000 item, fee would be 480?!?! 8% of 1000=80x6=480
Wow absolutely ridiculous.

thelizardking 02-19-2008 04:14 PM

This is the way it works 8.75% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.50% of the initial $25.00 - $1,000.00 plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

so for $6,000 its 8.75% of the first 25.00=2.18 + 3.50% of 25.00-1,000.00=34.12 + 1.50% of 1,000-6,000=75

the total final value fee is 2.18+34.12+75.00=$111.30

imjustme 02-19-2008 08:38 PM

Omg hell yeah!!!! Lower fees, I LOVE EBAY woohooooooooo!!!!!

Oh...can you tell I did good in math class? :p Thx for explanation, I was about to freak.

thelizardking 02-20-2008 09:27 PM

Haha that would be an insane fee, math was the only thing I was good at in school except gym class.

imjustme 02-21-2008 01:15 AM

eBay changes the fees ...but doesn't update their own terms and conditions!

They monkeys at eBay managed to introduce the new fees promptly, but apparently forgot to update the terms and fees schedule on their own website:

Because eBay.com Fees is still showing the old fees schedule. Oh what an amazing customer service experience.

GreenBean 02-21-2008 01:54 AM

It would be worthwhile to print that out. Sell with the old fees and if there is
are hassles later....what is this paper?

imjustme 02-21-2008 09:44 AM

Funny, about 3 hours after I posted this, they updated it.

eBay, if you're reading this ..go **** yourself. :D

mantisinc 02-21-2008 09:51 AM

LOL! I wonder how else we can manipulate them to make changes :)
