Default EBAY fee changes, fee policy changes, rate changes for fees

Like clockwork, every year ebay raises its fees.

What will they raise them to this year?

LiveHelp says they haven't heard anything. I wonder if ebay will raise them.

That sounds like good news to me.
I think things might start to turn in our favor in the future. Ebay is really hurting, buyers are getting very frustrated with there experience and it all comes down to there ridiculous fees putting sellers out of business or making it impossible for us to move our inventory.
Amazon might be our savior we just need a competitor, to keep ebay straight.
More importantly we need a competitor to paypal. That is why this forum is so great. It really stresses using a merchant account. Heck merchant account fees are less, why doesnt everyone use them?

There's lots of competitors to paypal. Most of these competitors are listed on http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html under the section "Payment Services not permitted on eBay"

EBay Inc. said Tuesday it will cut by up to 50 percent the fees it charges sellers to list their goods online
Meanwhile they just about double the Final Value Fees!! I wonder if eBay paid CNN to selectively report this crap.

yeah it used to be 5.25% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.25% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000.00) so they upped it to 8.75% which is 66% more than before.

So if I sell a 6,000 item, fee would be 480?!?! 8% of 1000=80x6=480
Wow absolutely ridiculous.

This is the way it works 8.75% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.50% of the initial $25.00 - $1,000.00 plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

so for $6,000 its 8.75% of the first 25.00=2.18 + 3.50% of 25.00-1,000.00=34.12 + 1.50% of 1,000-6,000=75

the total final value fee is 2.18+34.12+75.00=$111.30

Default eBay changes the fees ...but doesn't update their own terms and conditions!

They monkeys at eBay managed to introduce the new fees promptly, but apparently forgot to update the terms and fees schedule on their own website:

Because eBay.com Fees is still showing the old fees schedule. Oh what an amazing customer service experience.

It would be worthwhile to print that out. Sell with the old fees and if there is
are hassles later....what is this paper?
