Default Canceling order under managed payments

Hi Everyone,

I ran into a major problem with using Managed Payments, a buyer requested a refund. so i tried to cancel the order and refund the buyer then i see this message from ebay:

We will deduct the total amount from your funds available for payout. If those funds are insufficient, you authorize us to charge the balance to your Bank of America ending in ****. We may aggregate this amount with other amounts you owe. You can also add a new payment option.

I never had this problem with PayPal, they shouldn't have a right to withdraw from my bank when they are the ones holding the funds. not sure what to do at this point, I got a feeling this managed payment thing isn't going to last on ebay. way too many problems with it

Only the money become available, then you can refund to the buyer, sucks.

You can add a VCC as a payment method to your account and use the VCC's balance to process the refund.

I could be wrong here and I do use ebay.com.au,
But if ebay is still holding the funds of the item you sold and you are wanting to partially or fully refund that same item. It just comes off the balance they will payout to you.

So even though the amount is ‘on hold’ they will deduct the amount on hold and give you the lesser amount with the refund already taken out.
I hope this makes sense.

I had an item I sold and after fees I was going to be paid about $47, it was just on hold until ebay confirmed it was delivered. But me being nice over charged the customers postage fees so I refunded him $5. So then my ‘on hold’ payout changed to $42.

If you have no money on hold or the amount you wish to refund is more then your payout…. Then yeah. Idk.
Maybe sell something else quick lol

I don't see what the problem is. eBay is just telling you that they will charge your bank account if you don't have enough funds in your pending payouts to cover the refund you're trying to send. What is the problem? Are you expecting eBay to cover the refund for you?

eBay is doing better than they've ever done before and MP is most definitely here to stay, lol.

If you don't have the funds to cover it, what do you expect them to do? lol

This is the way merchant account works, when you open a merchant account and ask the service provider to process your sales, you agree to allow them to access your bank account (1) to deposit fund (2) to withdraw fund.
When you lose a chargeback, they will access your bank account and withdraw enough to cover the chargeback amount plus a chargeback fee .
Some could even withhold an amount in your bank account in case you lose the chargeback and there is fund enough to cover
