Re: Wish.com - 6th largest e-commerce company in the world
You know the Wright Brothers? The guys who invented the airplane?
They spent the last 30 years of their life in court trying to stop people from ripping them off. Orville died with around 10 Million in 2017 dollars. Most of his money went to attorneys trying to protect his patents.
Same thing for Alexander Graham Bell. He had 1667 shares of Bell Telephone worth $1000 each in today's money. Most of his money came from marrying a rich woman.
Tesla could have licensed the patent for alternating current. He gave it away for free for the good of mankind. He died a pauper, but at least he didn't give all his money to lawyers.
Most trademarks today are fundamentally unenforceable.
Companies keep ahead of forgers by introducing new models on a frequent and continuing basis, sometimes producing two or three 'improved' and more desirable product cycles a year.
Consumer's desire the 'newest and best' and this makes forgeries second class and reduce the profit from them to a minimal amount.
This is cheaper and easier than paying lawyers to try to stop the piracy.
