Default Schindler's ORIGINAL List on eBay

If I owned this, I would definitely not have associated it with eBay in any way.

Item: Original Schindler’s List from Family of Itzhak Stern Dated April 18, 1945
Item number: 190871530669

There were originally, I believe, 7 lists created by Oskar Schindler for the Nazis. 4 of those are still known to be in existence. The other 3 are all in museums and this one is the only list in private hands. The starting bid is $3,000,000 and it ends in just under 2 days.

If it were mine, I would have gone to a reputable auction house to sell it, if money was my motivation. But maybe they figure it will get a larger audience this way. It will be interesting to see if it sells. It is certainly a historical document with a very positive theme - Oskar Schindler was a businessman who used his factory to hire Jews marked for death by the Nazis, thus saving their lives. But is the list worth $3,000,000? That I don't know.

If I had the money, I'd buy it and donate it to the National Holocaust Museum. They don't have an original list. And something like this does not belong in a private collection, at least in my opinion.
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

Just goes to show that you are a good guy.

I think either way you look at it financially you lose quite a bit of money:

Top of the Line Auction House: $3,000,000 - 20-30% Sellers Fee = 2.1-2.4 Million

Sell on eBay/Paypal: $3,000,000 - $250 ebay fee - $87,000 Paypal Fee = 2,900,000+ Million

Both have +'s and -'s. Personally I would go ebay for a while until it gains exposure on national news, and then send it to an auction house.

I would have sent it to Sothebys or a like major auction house myself because you can remain behind the scenes etc.

Surely would not put it up on ebay.

Associating this with ebay makes it tacky.

Other ways should be considered.

Even, heaven forbid, making no monetary gain from such horror.

I think it makes alot of sense, payment isn't going to be made through PayPal it will all be done privately outside of eBay/PayPal so you should only have $250 in fees.

Plus if the press or eBays marketing team pickup on this item they could create alot of interest

To each his own - auction house is the traditional route but eB works....I think there were will be a lot of complaints though and auction will be shelved by eB

Looks like a marketing technique to me. Will in all likely hood be sold off eBay. Has generated a lot of interest though.

Agree with James.

Monies will appear to acquire this.

Certainly no need for the vulgarity of ebay.

Pure buzz on ebay side.

If any of us would try to sell an item like that, it would be suspension directly.

I don't know... If eBay could authenticate it through an expert, they might allow it. Of course, it could not be sold on a STEALTH account.
