Amazon now has more sellers than eBay
 

There is an interesting article on feedvisor.com about eBay. Apparently eBay lowered their fees earlier this year to remain competitive with Amazon. Amazon currently has 2,000,000 sellers and eBay has fewer - between 1,300,000 and 1,999,999. This is interesting because eBay WAS the largest e-commerce platform until 2008.

So why should we care? Because MAYBE, just MAYBE eBay will start treating their sellers better. I'm not holding my breath, of course, but it does seem like they have made a few baby steps in that direction recently. Lower fees are always welcome. Even more welcome would be eBay stopping the practice of killing 20 legitimate accounts to get rid of the 3 scammers they targeted.

Anyway, we can hope!

I figured it, and the good thing about amazon is that 99% of the sellers are NOT chinese trying to pawn off their junk

That is changing by the day, if not by the HOUR.

Go to amazon co uk and look in certain categories.

Sellers are from China.

Not checked amazon US but I imagine the results will be comparable.

Chinese sellers are growing with their prescence on amazon. They form BC2
trading companies as money makers.

Who knows what type of unholy alliance they have made with amazon?

Their presence in the US is NOT as big as the UK yet. Even with that said most of them do NOT last at all as the shipping time is crazy and impatient americans just destroy them with negatives and a-z claims.

Some categories like cellphone accessories are the nothing but chinese sellers but i mean who can compete in that market when they sell the stuff at cost and shipping for us in USA with tracking is more than what they are selling most of their items for.

I recall the days when the overseas prescence was so limited.....

Is Amazon have the option to search for only US sellers?

It depends on what you are selling. If you are selling Clothing or Antiques or other specialized items FVF haven't changed much on eBay and you can't sell them effectively on Amazon. If you are selling cell phone accessories, cords, books and other forms of media. Then I would agree Amazon has probably surpassed eBay/Half.com.

eBay will still continue to treat certain sellers like crap. I wish it would change but if you have products that are a dime a dozen on their website they probably could care less about you.

I found this site (Tmart: Thousands of Products, Manufacturer Price, Free Shipping Worldwide) for some guitar items I wanted that were so cheap...
They ship from here in the US and fast! So maybe the Chinese are warehousing here to sell from here which makes for quick and cheap items... wow!

For eb/pp to treat us sellers better people need to stop abusing their system. Which will never happen. All they are doing is trying to close the loopholes which in turn puts negative effects on us sellers and in the end makes it much harder for us.

A lot of Chinese sellers in the UK are now using FBA for their fulfilment. It gives legit UK selelrs no chance in certain catagories. For 3 years my main business was Android tablets, we trademarked our own brand and sold them on Amazon for good profits and incredibly fast.

Now we don't even bother importing them because margins are so low. All because of Chinese sellers we lost a massive, and I mean massive income stream. They underdeclare their import taxes and then don't pay any taxes or VAT in this country, how can we compete?

Are you saying knockoffs are getting through FBA services?

Nah, I mean Chinese unbranded goods. Amazon UK is packed full of Chinese unbranded tablets at such cheap prices that no one else can compete, the only ones that sell are the Chinese cheapos. You can get a 7" 4gb tablet for under 37 quid delivered.
