Student Pays £450 for a photo of an Xbox One

Reminded me of a news story a few years ago about two people that were bidding on a Herman Miller got into a real bidding war and the price went into the £1000's

Turned out they were both bidding on a doll house miniature that was 50mm in height and they had both assumed the seller had made a mistake and it was meant to be in inches.

Nice cjmixers...I remember watching that episode on TV (again) about a month ago. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

Both cases are great reminder of extent some people will go to scam others. Sad.

Great, thanks for ruining my sales James! lol. That's just horrible but he could of asked the seller if this was a picture or the real thing. Also this gives real legit sellers a bad name.

Hope he gets his money back.

Here to help as always You can always move onto selling pictures of cars as real cars. Speaking of which I have this amazing picture of a Ferrari, yours for just £80,000

In fairness it did say in the listing that it was just a picture of an Xbox One, but the buyer assumed that for that price it must be the real thing. Not defending the seller, but still.... Bit daft on the buyers part

This kind of sale used to be RAMPANT in the early days of eB - scumbag of a seller...motto: if too good to be true...it usually is. Glad to hear resolution from eB for PR sake

It just goes to show you that most buyers dont fully read the entire listing of the ebay sales listing.

I remember when I first started on ebay and people were buying xboxes for like $50 and then in the fine print it would say they were just pictures. Some people get scammed because they don't read directions. lol

Back when that plush toy line was crazy popular, photos in the mail of the valuable ones were being sold - people were pissed
