What can I do so I don't need to give out my real name and give something else without getting into legal trouble like fraud or something.
I also want to change my LLC information with the DBA for privacy reasons. Is this possible?
Thank you! | Keep in mind that DBA's are not assigned TaxID#'s (EIN)!
So if you provide a DBA as a contact "person" for your LLC, and at a later time you discover that they require a SSN for that person you are SOL.
It was mentioned on the board elsewhere that the smartest way to do this would be to have two LLCs. One that sounds like a typical business (e.g. Microsoft Corporation) and the other that sounds like a person's name (to use as the first LLC's contact).
FWIW, I am not aware of any legal issues that may arise from attempting something of this nature. It might be considered criminal or even just suspicious terrorist activity. Who knows.
I have not used this method myself. I have an S-Corporation and I used myself as the contact person and had to provide my SSN to the state in which the business was incorporated and also to the IRS.
