eBay Suspended as soon as I add phone number?
 

Why am I constantly getting suspended after adding my phone number? No, the IP isn't the issue as I've been browsing on a Mobile Hotspot and have been using the account for over a week perfectly fine. But the sec I add the phone number, I wait 30ish min and I'm suspended. The phone number I used was a brand new mobile number from Speedtalk mobile. I'm quite confused as to what I'm doing wrong. I don't know what to do at this point. And I've always been using a different address, name, user account, etc. I don't know if my entire machine is flagged, I don't know anything.

I had the same problem, after adding a new phone number, I havent even listed any items for sale.

No, I havent tried it again.

It was a new account ( created in Januaray in Phillipines ) unlimited, with no sellig limits !

Using fresh IP from IP Burger

The account was about 1 week online. And then after I added the phone number (german number) for verification, I got banned for no reason.

I have got another one, but now afraid the get suspended again.

As I said before brand new account, no limits.

Mine were suspended after my mobile phone to be verified by receiving code.

I tested 2 accounts yesterday.

New accounts, have been live for 2 months with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ mobile phone first, and yesterday tried to add real numbers from Lebara, and numbers to be verified. Then Both suspended within an hour.

(you know you can post listings on EBAY after getting the phone numbers to be verified).

I'm following every step...this would be a different story if I'm getting banned after a certain item is listed, or out of no where. But I've tested this on 3-4 accounts. All I have aged for various periods of time ranging from 2 hr to 2 weeks as I just browse, favorite items, etc. THEN the min I add a phone number to my account, the account gets suspended within 30 min. All fresh phone numbers too.

Maybe it was because the number didn't match the accounts origin. The account is from the philippines but the number is from Germany. Maybe that raised a red flag


It was a real SIM card then? Maybe it was the same issue with you - the number didn't really match the accounts country.


I think the number has to be a) real, from a real sim card and b) coming from the same country that the account is from.

But I'm trying to figure it out myself. Maybe if we put our heads together and test, we will get to the root cause of this!

I don't make a single listing. I haven't even gotten to that stage. I'm getting suspended right after adding phone number.

Interesting, so a lot of people are running into this issue. Can someone experienced maybe chime in?

Is it maybe a general thing that PayPal has deployed currently to scale the creation and possibly more scams down to mitigate risks? Also due to covid they don't have lots of employees working so maybe they just increased the security measures tremendously instead.

For me, it just asked for documentations regarding my bank account even though I didn't even add one as well as a copy of my ID

Did you guys get completely banned or just needed to upload some proof? Maybe we just need to go through that in order to get reactivated at least during these covid 19 times

It is EBAY, not PAYPAL.

You have no way to appeal the suspension. EBAY will tell you that the decision was final and you can't appeal their decison.

I actually encountered a problem similar to this i get suspension's in 10 - 30 min after verifying the phone
i found out that the numbers that i used are blacklisted
Also adding a phone from a different country is suspicious try one with the same or a closer country

Like I said, I have been using numbers from the same country. Also, I'm using a prepaid SIM so I don't know how it is "Blacklisted". What are you using??

Are you making new user accounts ? maybe the hotspot is throwing which you have used before and they are getting linked. Sounds weird why you are getting suspended

today I created a new account, and verified by a real phone number at the beginning, 6 hours now, so far so good.

Before I normally added the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ phone number (generate by myself at random) first and then added the real one once I started to use the account as a seller.

You know normally you have to top up a phone number within 3 months, otherwise the number is not valid anymore. That's why I added the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ one first.

I will get back days later when I start to list an item then.

everyone gets suspended within 30 minutes, unless you know the exact ebay algo.

I do not see how this could be the case.

What browser are you using? I seem to have issues when using firefox within 30 minutes of creating a seller account

What exactly is speedtalk? IS this a REAL mobile number or a VoIP? If it is a REAL mobile number, then which major carrier are they going through?

And this is 100% untrue. Before members make comments like this, you really need to try isolating different variables on how you make your account. This includes: browsers, IP solutions, and phone number sources.

When you make comments like this, it is not fair to other members (no, not talking about us account sellers) because you are giving them bad information.

Would you mind sharing your set-up?
I have the same issue - all accounts get suspended 30 minutes after I create a seller account. And eBay won't reinstate them because they 'pose a high risk to the platform'.

Im pretty sure I'm in the minority here but I don't think you need to buy the book. Sure you'll make mistakes along the way, but it's fairly doable.

Just make sure you're constantly on a fresh IP (no proxy, well known VPN providers, etc.). I mainly stick to Mobile Hotspot now to avoid all the headache (I've also heard and personally experienced that listing your first item on a VPN gets you suspended so I just stick to hotspot).

Also, make sure your phone number is non-VoIP. Just order a preloaded SIM and activate your accounts with that. Fresh Gmail, fresh PayPal, fresh eBay in that order of course all with the same name, REAL address, etc.
