Ebay asking for an ID to verify info
 

I recently got this email from ebay:


Hello **********,
We understand this may be inconvenient, but we’ve identified a possible discrepancy with the information provided at registration and need your assistance. Until we're able to resolve this matter, your account will remain restricted and you will be unable to buy/sell items, or engage in member-to-member communication.

To help remove the restriction, please provide a color image of your passport. If you do not have a passport readily available, please provide an alternate government-issued ID (front and back).



HOW SHOULD I HANDLE THIS?

There's only 1 way to handle it -- provide what ebay is asking you. :)

Prepare a scan of the account's ID. That's the only thing you can do now. Normally, it's easy to pass this step

happens from time to time, just get the doc and submit it. nothing to worry about

You need to get creative with the ID if you don't have one. ;)

They do check the ID to see if someone exists in public records with your name and DOB. I know for a fact they do this. So common names are helpful in these conditions. Weather or not they decide to ban you permanently is up to whoever is reviewing it.

Where can we get these IDs made up if you say they check the public records then making any old ID with photo and name on will not work

True point - sometimes you might be able to get a better sympathetic eb agent too...

If you have a PS master, 95% you can get your account back.

I don’t know what a ps master is but I do know there is never any limitation that can not be fixed. Where there is a will there is a way.

At least for us in USA. I cannot speak on other countries.
