| groundhog | 03-20-2007 11:46 PM | Ebay collections? Anybody had experience with ebay collections?
They are sending me emails asking to pay for suspended account. What will be the next step? eBay collections? |
| aspkin | 03-21-2007 12:16 AM | That's about all they can do if your credit card on file won't fork over the funds. They almost have nothing on you. |
What if they send to collection agents? |
| ebaykilla | 03-21-2007 09:40 AM | screw ebay...they can't do jack |
| aspkin | 03-21-2007 05:53 PM | Jayt unless your gave them your SS# or real home address with a name, they can't do much. |
Aspkin: I actually used my real home address with few variance as you mentioned in your guide. Will they catch me? And after that? |

I can dispute these charges with ebay, but I don't know if there is a sense to waste my time? |

Yea, I have over $500 AT LEAST probably closer to 1000 BC I get suspended every 6 months or 3 months, and no way am I paying after all the time I wasted, and refund to customers due to suspension. I hope they go bankrupt and maybe a better auctionsystem will take over. |
| ihatebay | 03-25-2007 03:20 PM | well, I think because I never changed the IP so I get suspended everytime. I only register under a new IP, but when I get home I always log into my old suspended IP. I never knew why either, until now. It's not what I am selling I'm sure because each time I sign up I last 3-6 months and sell so much I am a powerseller. My buyers are all very satisfied. Do you think 15 items my first week is good? All my items end around $100-150, I always start at 0.99 |
| ihatebay | 03-25-2007 04:12 PM | Okay, what if I created a ebay account like 6 months ago but didn't use it? Can I start selling 15 items a week now? It's my mom's account... |

Yea it would be safer, but just take it easy . Dont slam ebay all at once. | My feed back on my mother's account (the one that is about 6 months old, and one I just started listing 15 a week) is only 6 feedbacks. It's all positive.
My other ones (2) I just opened this week and I plan to list tonight on Sunday. I'm thinking of doing 15 items at 0.99 cents. I've taken on a new identity so I don't think Ebay will suspend me. Also, would it be really my fault if my items sell above $100? Therefore Ebay may not suspend me, only for suspected shill bidding, which wouldn't occur as I don't shill bid. I don't know, your opinion? |
| ihatebay | 03-25-2007 10:27 PM | Oh, really. So what is I list them all at $99? It would be 15 auctions, I don't know if that would be even more suspicious? Ughhh, help I can't do this either ways... |
| aspkin | 04-10-2007 05:40 PM | If you don't link your accounts, then no you won't have a problem with your Paypal account. Simply add on a fresh email address to try with another eBay account if something happens. And I don't believe paying for your auctions with your paypal account will link your accounts. I usually don't buy items though, so don't hold me to this. :) |
| Jonas | 04-12-2007 11:10 AM | Chargeback against eBay fees eBay suspended me and I was pondering changing my card number and then I figured well I don't want to be faxing them my personal info even though it's just two weeks. So I checked my online banking first and eBay had charged my card.
So I put it in dispute.
Has anyone had any experience doing chargebacks against eBay after they suspended you? I read on one site someone wrote that it worked. |
| aspkin | 04-12-2007 02:21 PM | Most chargebacks do work; you just have to enough proof and patience to keep fighting it week after week. Dealing with your checking account is different though. It could take you months to see any results. That's why I only use credit cards for most big purchases, because of the added protection. |
| jamesy | 04-13-2007 09:16 AM | Re: Collections
I got suspended for a linked account last year. all my accounts got taken down in one fell swoop and $2000 worth of sellers fees all came off my credit cards in one hit. it wasn't a good day
anyway for some reason one account they didn't call in the fees. I pretty much forgot it as I'd ditched the email accounts associated with it and moved on.
then about 3 months ago I start getting collection agency mail at my house for somebody like 'tipsy mcswagger' which was (kind of) the name I was using on the account.
I ignored every letter they sent each week then they've just stopped. I guess some human had to look at the system generated letters and realised they'd been had. ultimatly I stopped them getting a few extra $$$ out of me. |

I wrote to the collection company for the hell of it, just typed a response right on the bill and sent it back, stating the same grounds I had put down for the chargeback: that I never got any value for my fees, that all my listings had been suspended, that EBAY had interfered with my transactions and spooked all my buyers from paying, most of this true - and the collection notices stopped.
Funny - then - just a few days ago I received some email from EBAY saying, the chargeback has nothing to do with this and you still owe because the fees were for auctions that were not suspended. Yeah, right. The check is in the mail! | Damn! I'm going to try this first thing Monday morning. Try to recoup about $1500 in fees for the last two months before I was formally suspended. |
| hurley | 11-08-2008 02:23 AM | sorry to bump an old thread, but i was using the search feature and this came up.
i filed a charge back for 100 bucks or so in seller fees.
just got an email from ebay saying i still owe fees, so my question is what happens when this goes to collections? do they just send numerous emails, letters, can this be reflected on ones credit report/history? |
| pinkharo | 11-08-2008 04:05 AM | Nothing actually happens based on my experience. If they send you a letter I wouldn't even bother opening it. Just have the letter returned to seller and write on the envelope "no such person" and they will stop bothering you. And no, it does not affect your credit history, at least not for Canada. |
| mariedraper | 11-08-2008 03:49 PM | would this still be the case for paypal? as far as the collection agencies, etc. I closed everything down, checking, cc. |
| hurley | 11-08-2008 03:49 PM | return to sender, that's a good idea. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:25 AM. | |
